F1 2011 trailer wants to hear your questions

The developer's behind Codemasters' latest racing game F1 2011 want to hear from you. Specifically, they want to see you ask questions to a camera, and they will pick their favorite questioners to give a tour of the studio. This trailer is just the information for this PR bit: make videos, get a tour. It's as simple as that. Not really worth it for anyone not into F1 2011 though.

F1 2011 due out in September

Codemasters' newest racing sim game franchise will get a second installment in September. MCV reports that F1 2011 will be released on September 23 for the PC and other platforms. Since that's on a Friday it's likely that the game will be released in the US a few days earlier or later.

Codemasters first released its first PC Formula 1-based racing game, F1 2010, last fall. Despite some issues with the game's AI that were fixed via patches later (along with post launch support for DirectX 11 graphics) MCV reports that the game was the most successful in Codemasters' history

Codemasters plans for major additions to F1 2011

F1 2010 (shown above) was released less than two months ago but the official Formula 1 racing simulation from developer-publisher Codemasters already has a sequel in the works. MCV reports that F1 2011, due out sometime in, well, 2011, will have some major changes compared to this year's versions.

At least that's the word from Codemasters' CEO Rod Cousens who stated that the next incarnation of the game would "definitely not be a few new tracks and a few new drivers." In addition to the main game, Cousens stated that Codemasters would also release a Formula 1-based browser game along with a version made for "very young kids".

This Week In PC Games: September 20-26

This week PC gamers get its single biggest release since StarCraft II shipped out in July with another installment of a classic series. There's also an MMO launch, a game that was first released for consoles back in January and much more for gamers to check out this week.

Sid Meier's Civilization V - Developer Firaxis Games and publisher 2K Games bring us the latest game in this long running turn-based strategy series. While the game uses a new graphics engine and changes some aspects of the gameplay (no more square tiles; this game goes all hexagonal on you) the early reviews of the title have already proclaimed it to be a worthy addition to the franchise.

F1 2011 trailer speeds through the tracks

While we aren't really one for racing games, Codemasters sure does give us a good selection to choose from. Now comes the latest in their F1 franchise, and it's only a week away from release. To celebrate, they've given us another trailer that shows off the sunny streets of Singapore. It's nothing particularly special, but it does show a good amount of tracks, in-game graphics, and gameplay. If you're looking for a faithful Formula 1 racer, you might be interested in this trailer.
