Nabbing top spots in Germany and Sweden with a second place finish in Spain, Warhammer Online is building up quite a stable of characters in the fight of Order versus Destruction. Other notable PC sellers, in the very PC-loving region of the world, included appearances by Spore, Crysis Warhead, an obligatory Sims expansion and the Warhammer Online: Collector's Edition. Capcom picks Unreal Engine 3 for "unannounced European project"

Japan-based game developer and publisher Capcom announced that it has licensed Epic Games' Unreal Engine 3 (used for Unreal Tournament 3, Gears of War, BioShock, and numerous other games) for an "unannounced" project the company is working on in Europe.

Use of Unreal Engine 3 implies that the project in question is a triple-AAA endeavor, but that shouldn't be a surprise to anyone, given Capcom's reputation. Unfortunately, no other details were given. You can start guessing, but every guess will be a shot in the dark. Stay tuned, though; we'll say something the moment we know something.

Europe has more potential than USA as gaming market, says Forbes

Sorry United States of America. You just got burned. Your cousin (you know, the one that set you up with the sweet kicks) apparently has it better than you for potential growth in the gaming market. It's okay. We can wait while you cry to your brothers Canada and Mexico, and maybe eat some of their ice cream.

Kidding aside, Forbes recently ran an article saying that Europe is an untapped source of gaming. Developers are too focused on the hardcore US market, they say, and not enough on the untapped casual gamers that dwell within the Old World. This is true, but they should add a single addendum to that analysis. It's not just the US that gets all the love. It's Japan too!

Acclaim opens up 9Dragons european server

European players of the free-to-play MMO 9Dragons can finally call a local server their home with Bardo Euro, the first European-based server recently brought to life by publisher Acclaim. "The 9Dragons European server is great news for our European players who can now get the best possible game service quality and lower latency," said Howard Marks, CEO of Acclaim. Everyone hates lag and apparently there are enough 9Dragons players from Europe for Acclaim to have made this move. We're happy for those players, as it means a higher level of quality for all everyone.

Acclaim plans on running plenty of special events between June 3rd and June 9th to celebrate the new server. Players can expect several days of bonus experience events, special monster events and PvP battles with the game masters playing along. Also, in-game fireworks are planned to commemorate the entire shebang. It sounds like players of 9Dragons will be having quite the party over the next several days.

Ubisoft to spread Fallout over much of Europe

Ubisoft deployed a German press release announcing that it will be the distributor of Bethesda's ultra-anticipated RPG Fallout 3 in several European countries. Those countries include: France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland.

Fallout is one of gaming's most prestigious intellectual properties, and this iteration is under development by the people behind the wildly successful The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Ubisoft has probably struck gold with this deal. With a new studio, new internal IPs, old stand-bys, and massive deployment over Steam, this is shaping up to be an exciting stretch for Ubisoft.
