R.U.S.E gets new June 8 US release date; open beta begins on Steam

If you want to check out an RTS game that uses deception and trickery as a key part of its gameplay, R.U.S.E. may be for you. Today the open beta of the game from developer Eugen Systems and publisher Ubisoft launched today via Steam. Anyone with a Steam account can now download the beta test for the WWII themed game which has six factions (US, USSR, UK, France, Germany and Italy) and seven multiplayer maps which can be played in a variety of modes. There's no word on when the open beta will end.

In related news, Ubisoft has now confirmed June 8 for R.U.S.E's release date in the US. Previously the publisher stated the game would be coming out on June 3.

Second R.U.S.E dev video writes a great story


The second Making of R.U.S.E video introduces viewers to scriptwriter Jeff Spock, who talks about the storyline (which involves World War II generals trying to outsmart each other) and the challenges of writing for a video game. For more information, viewers can check out the first video, which discusses the game's unique technology.

R.U.S.E is a strategy game that emphasizes deception and bluffing the enemy. It is expected to release sometime in the spring.
