EA to shut down online servers for "old" PC sports games
Electronic Arts decided in 2008 to scale back the releases of its retail sports games for the PC platform. In 2009 the only PC game in retail stores from EA Sports was their FIFA Soccer 2010 title. Now comes word via a service update page on the EA site that the online multiplayer servers for a number of PC EA Sports titles will soon shut down.
The affected titles include Madden NFL 08 (the last PC version of the pro football game) along with FIFA 07, UEFA Champions League 07, NHL 08, and Tiger Woods 07. The online servers will be closed down on February 2 so if you own any of these titles you had better get your last online games in now.
