Pixel Force: Halo coming January 18

One of the most popular downloadable free games at Big Download is Pixel Force: Left 4 Dead. Created by Eric Ruth, the game reimagines Valve's shooter game as a 8-bit Nintendo console title. Now, about a year after the release of Pixel Force: Left 4 Dead, Ruth is about to release his latest reimagined game and it's for yet another shooter title.

Pixel Force: Halo will be released in all of its 8-bit glory as free PC title on January 18, according to a post on Ruth's Twitter page. Since this is likely the closest PC owners will get to a "new" Halo game for a long time we think this will be extremely popular. In the meantime you can check out some gameplay from Pixel Force: Halo after the jump:

Developed by a fan named Eric Ruth, Pixel Force: Left 4 Dead imagines how Left 4 Dead might have looked and played if it were developed for the original 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment System. The game supports up to two players, however it only uses pre-set keyboard controls. Pixel Force: Left 4 Dead is free to download and play.

"Pixel Force: Left 4 Dead is Eric Ruth's tribute to both the days of retro gaming and Valve's award winning FPS franchise. This de-make was developed with one particular question in mind: 'What would Left 4 Dead have been like on the Nintendo Entertainment System?' I tackled that question full force by creating this title and releasing it for free to the masses on January 4th, 2010."
