Team Fortress 2 fans can now rejoice, The Engineer character class update for
Valve's multiplayer shooter is now live via
Steam for its owners. The
Team Fortress 2 web site has also been updates with the final items that are a part of the update. One of them is the Gunslinger, which replaces the Engineer's wrench. It's basically a steel glove that increases health by 25 points and also gets a critical hit when a player gets three punches with it on an enemy.
The Gunslinger can also generate the other new item, the Combat Mini-Sentry. This smaller version of the main Sentry takes four times less time to build but deals half a normal Sentry's damage and cannot be repaired or upgraded. In addition another new Payload gameplay mode map, Thunder Mountain, has been added to the mix and a new community made Capture Point map, ColdFront, is included in the update.
So to sum up: The Engineer update adds three new Payload maps, one Capture Point map and four items for the Engineer class (the Frontier Justice Shotgun, the Wrangler, the Gunslinger and the Combat Mini-Sentry). All of that
plus new achievements plus Engineers can now pick up and move Sentries around for the first time. All for the price of absolutely nothing. Nice.
