R.U.S.E. PC demo confirmed for Wednesday

After two multiplayer open beta tests on Steam, the upcoming WWII themed RTS title R.U.S.E. will be getting a proper PC demo later this week. In online ads for the game it's revealed that the demo will be released on Wednesday, August 25. At the moment there's no word on what the demo will contain in terms of its content.

The title from developer Eugen Systems and publisher Ubisoft is still slated to be released on September 7 in the US and on September 10 in Europe. The PC port, as we reported earlier this month, will feature an exception to Ubisoft's "Always On" PC DRM approach. Instead R.U.S.E. will use Steamworks which will allow for single player games to be played without the need for a internet connection.

Pre-load R.U.S.E open beta now; system requirements revealed

This week the development team at Eugen Systems for R.U.S.E came out of the closet (so to speak) to announce their plans for the open beta test of their unusual WWII themed RTS game. Now folks who are interested in trying out this game full of deception and trickery can start pre-loading it right now via Steam.

The full version of the Ubisoft-published game isn't due to be released until June 3 but the open beta's system requirements are now available which should give you an idea if your PC will be able to handle the game. You can check out the system specs after the jump:

"Big" R.U.S.E news coming Wednesday

There hasn't been much news lately concerning R.U.S.E., the upcoming different take on the WWII RTS game from developer Eugen Systems and publisher Ubisoft. However it looks like that silence will be ending on Wednesday. An Ubisoft community developer posted on his Twitter page today, "It's gonna be hard to wait until Wednesday to share this #RUSE big news ... We're too excited !"

It's possible the "big news" is a final release date for the game which does away with the typical "fog of war' gameplay feature in nearly every other RTS title in favor of players using dummy units and stealth abilities to trick other players. The game launched a closed multiplayer beta at Thanksgiving 2009 but that beta was discontinued on December 21. Ubisoft recently delayed the game from a first quarter 2010 release schedule to sometime in the company's next fiscal year that begins on April 1.
