Empire Total War Gold Edition announced

Developer The Creative Assembly and publisher Sega have been busy releasing two full games in the Total War series in quick succession with Empire Total War in 2009 and Napoleon Total War earlier this year. Now Sega has announced plans to release Empire Total War Gold Edition, a new retail release that contains both historical RTS games.

Not only does the Gold Edition contain both games it will also have all of the paid downloadable content options that has been released so far for Empire Total War and Napoleon Total War. You can look for this collection to be released to stores on October 19 for $49.95.

War Room launched for Empire/Napoleon: Total War players

The development team at The Creative Assembly may be making their next RTS game, Shogun 2: Total War but today the company announced a new web-based feature for players of its two previous titles, Empire: Total War and Napoleon: Total War called the War Room.

The feature lets players link their Sega Pass account to either or both Empire or Napoleon games via the TotalWar.com web site. Players of those games will then be able to see and show off the stats and achievements they have in those title with anyone else. Players of Napoleon: Total War get something extra if they sign up for War Room; a download code for an exclusive unit (the 10th Hussars) that can be used in both single and multiplayer modes. More features for the War Room are promised in the coming months.

Rumor: New Total War game to be announced at E3?

There will certainly be a number of major new game announcements during E3 2010 in June and one of them might be a new game in The Creative Assembly's Total War RTS series. Voodoo Extreme reports via an anonymous source that publisher Sega will indeed make such an announcement during the show.

The article claims that the new game will take a "back to basics" approach in terms of its weapons but there are no other details on the new title. Big Download contacted Sega's PR for comment and the response we got back was that the publisher " ... can't confirm a new TW game for E3."

Empire Total War gets AI update

Developer The Creative Assembly continues to provide new updates to their 2009 historical RTS game Empire Total War. This week the latest update to the title has been released via Steam. This 1.6 patch concentrates on fixing and improving the game's AI code. Specifically, the game's AI code "now maintains its lines more rigorously, has better army movement and engages in melee more tactically."

Of course, the developer recently released their latest game, Napoleon Total War, back in February. So far there's no word yet on what the next game in the Total War series will be like or when it will be released.
