X3: Terran Conflict trailer throws down in a fight

Previous X3: Terran Conflict trailers highlighted the Thinking and Building aspects, but players know that all space sims ultimately comes down to old fashioned combat. This trailer highlights the ship combat, proving that when all else fails, the one with the biggest guns can rule the galaxy.

This non-playable demo cycles through different areas from X3: Terran Conflict. Not only does it show off the game's graphics, but the demo will also perform a system performance benchmark with each scene. The first three sectors of space are moderate while the fourth will strain even high-performance computers. The demo concludes with a statistical benchmark report.

X3: Terran Conflict now available on Steam; patch released

It took a little longer than first expected (it was supposed to have been released back in late September) but Egosoft's space trading-sim game X3: Terran Conflict is now available to download exclusively for the North American market via Valve's Steam client (there are no plans for a US retail game release although it will be released in European shops). There's also a patch that's available automatically via Steam. The Egosoft web site has the change log for the patch which includes "A whole new mission to scan for valuable asteroids."

This is the final game in Egosoft's "X-Trilogy" of titles and if you haven't played the first two games Steam has you covered with the release of X2: The Threat and X3: Reunion. X3: Terran Conflict is priced at $39.99 and you can get both that game and X3: Reunion via Steam for $54.99 ($5 off the price if the games are purchased separately).

Another small delay for X3: Terran Conflict's release

This seems to be happening more often. Games like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky and the PC port of Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway have had problems getting on store shelves due to production issues and now Egosoft's space trading-sim game X3: Terran Conflict has run into similar issues.

The title was previously announced as coming out on Sept. 25 and then pushed back to Oct. 10. Now a post on the game's official web site has announced that due to "a broken machine for the production of the game manuals" the game's release has been delayed by another week. We can now expect the game to ship on Oct. 17. Presumably this will also affect the Steam digital download release date.

X3: Terran Conflict slightly delayed in retail stores and on Steam

It looks like that "gone gold" announcement from developer Egosoft for their latest space trading-combat game X3: Terran Conflict could have been a tad premature. About two weeks ago the developer announced the game was done and would be released on October 3 in retail stores via publisher Deep Silver, with a digital download release via Valve's Steam service on September 25.

However the official Egosoft web site has revealed that "due to unforeseen delays in the production process" they have pushed the game's retail release back one week to October 10. In addition, Steam's web site is now showing an "October" release date for the game on their service

X3: Terran Conflict goes gold; release via Steam on Sept. 25

If you need to get some space sim-trading action in your system, rest assured you will get that from Egosoft's X3: Terran Conflict. The developer of the long running game series announced that their newest title has now gone gold and should be in retail stores next month.

If you don't feel like waiting for the boxed copy, X3 will also be released on Valve's Steam download service on September 25. In the meantime here are the minimal and recommended system specs for X3 after the jump:

X3 trailer challenges players to think

The last X3: Terran Conflict trailer emphasized the building aspect of the game. The latest video focuses on "Thinking" - as in devising strategies, playing through the story, its side quests, and making decisions that will significantly impact the universe. The trailer also clues us in on one of the main enemies you'll encounter, a mechanical race grown and evolved from old terraforming machines that earth originally sent out.
