Test Drive Unlimited 2 closed beta test begins in Europe

If you have signed up to beta test Test Drive Unlimited 2 for the PC, you may soon be getting an email that will be your way to try out the upcoming open world driving game sequel. Publisher Atari has announced that the beta test for the Eden Games-developed title has begun, at least in Europe.

This is a closed beta test so at first there will only be a few people invited but Atari is "still reviewing and confirming users' eligibility and will invite more testers" in the future. Originally set for release this month Atari announced in August that Test Drive Unlimited 2 will now be released in the first quarter of 2011.

Test Drive Unlimited 2 delayed until first quarter 2011

With only a few weeks to go before its planned September 21 release date, Atari has announced that its big 2010 game release, Test Drive Unlimited 2, won't make that date after all. In a note on the game's official web site it was announced that the title has been pushed back to sometime in the first quarter of 2011.

The note announcing the delay stated that while the open world racing game "is fun and could be launched shortly" Atari and developer Eden Studios felt "with a few extra months of polish it could be even better." Last May Atari started taking beta sign ups for the game. Today note stated, " We will be announcing the new Beta dates shortly, as well as revealing exclusive Beta tester rewards, as a thank you for their patience and continuing support."

Test Drive Unlimited 2 beta sign ups begin

This week Atari announced some pre-order bonuses and the release date for the upcoming open world driving game Test Drive Unlimited 2. But if you thought that would be all the news about the game from developer Eden Studios, think again. Today the game's official web site started taking sign-ups for the game's upcoming beta test.

You do need to be a member of Atari.com in order to register for the beta and there's also no word on when it will begin or what content will be included. However it looks like the beta will only have a limited amount of slots open so if you want in on this, you had better move fast. As fast as a Ferrari (Get it?).

First trailer for Test Drive Unlimted 2 released

The upcoming release of Test Drive Unlimited 2 was first announced earlier this year and we actually are looking forward to seeing how this open world-based driving game both looks and plays. Now the first trailer for the Eden Studios-developed game has been released and so far it doesn't look too shabby at all.

That's all well and good, but wow; that music that's been put into the trailer is horrible. Seriously; it's like the worst techno track merged with the second worst techno track we have ever heard. But we still want to play this game when it comes out sometime this fall.
