38 Studios' Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning announced for fall 2011 release

Jumping the gun a bit on its Comic-Con presentation on Thursday, publisher Electronic Arts and developer 38 Studios have announced that the upcoming fantasy single player RPG previously known as "Project Mercury" now has the official name of Kingdoms of Amalar: Reckoning. The game is set for release in fall 2011.

Developed by 38 Studios' Big Huge Games dev team the game will feature "a magical world, filled with strange landscapes, exotic cities, colorful characters and terrifying creatures" along with a "fast-paced, graphically stimulating action combat experience." More specific info, including the release of the game's first trailer, will still be revealed at the Comic-Con panel starting on Thursday afternoon.

Concept images from Dungeon Keeper Online come forth

In December 2008 it was revealed that the Dungeon Keeper franchise was being revived but as an Asian-based MMO game. There hasn't been any word on the progress of that game since that announcement but this week some info and concept images from the title have come forward.

The game's official web site has gone live that show some concept art that at least look somewhat like what we would imagine a Dungeon Keeper Online game might look like but with an Asian art twist. MMO Culture has translated what's on the site for us English users, saying the game will be a full 3D title and will keep the original game's premise of playing a bad guy that is building his underground dungeon empire. There's no word on when the game might launch or if it will come to the US.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 PC beta swamping download sites

The release today of the Battlefield Bad Company 2 PC beta client happened on schedule at noon Eastern time. However publisher Electronic Arts decided to give the beta client to a select view download sites around the world ahead of time. The result? The client has been nearly impossible to download thanks to a massive surge of traffic by gamers who want to play the beta tor the multiplayer shooter from Digital Illusions.

The Battlefield Bad Company 2 web site has a list of mirrors for the multiplayer beta but they are all experiencing heavy traffic at the moment. There's no word yet if EA will open up the mirror list to allow for more download sites.
