US version of Recettear sells over 100,000 units in four months

A Japanese action-RPG about selling and maintaining an item shop in a fantasy world? That doesn't sound like a recipe for a game that would sell many copies. Yet Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale from developer EasyGameStation has done exactly that. Since its US importer , Carpe Fulgur, released the game on our shores last September, the game has sold over 100,000 copies via digital download, according to a new blog post by the head of Carpe Fulgur.

So what does this sales success mean? It might mean that the game could get an English voice over patch although that is not certain. However it definitely means that Carpe Fulgur is in a solid financial position. According to the blog post, "We'vie already gotten comments from developers in Japan to the effect of "we've heard of you and we'd like to work with you'" In the meantime the company plans to release another action-RPG title from EasyGameStation, titled Chantelise.
