This Week In PC Games: December 7-13

This week is the last in 2009 where we will see major PC game titles ship to stores (although there will likely be a few downloadable titlesand expansions that will come out next week). This week's releases include the final game from a major dev studio and the final chapter in a adventure game revival.

The Saboteur - Pandemic Studios' office got shut down a few weeks ago by Electronic Arts. But the last game made at the offices goes out with a bang with this WWII open world action title centering on a lone rebel in Paris who tries to fight the Nazis.

East India Company: Battle of Trafalgar announced

Paradox Interactive's already busy downloadable game release schedule this year just got a last minute addition. The publisher announced today plans to release East India Company: Battle of Trafalgar, a stand alone expansion to developer Nitro Games' recent historical strategy game.

This game focuses solely on old fashioned naval combat as it recreates the now legendary battle between the English, French and Spanish armadas in 1805. The game will feature historically accurate fleets from all three nations and five commanders based on the real ones involved in the battle. The game will be released via download on December 8 for the bargain price of $9.99. If you want to check out the original East India Company it will go on sale at the GamersGate download site for 50 percent off its normal price on November 27-28.

East India Company on sale via Steam for 60 percent off

As promised, Paradox Interactive has released East India Company: Privateer, the downloadable expansion pack for the recent historical strategy game from developer Nitro Games. Now the Steam download service is giving folks a chance to download and play the original game at a much cheaper price than normal.

From now until November 2 you can get the game via Steam for just $11.99 which is a whopping 60 percent off its normal $29.99 price. The game comes with the new "Director's Cut" free update that includes things like two new multiplayer modes and more. The new Privateer expansion is also available via Steam. It adds two new campaigns and other new features for $9.99.

Get free update now with East India Company: Privateer pre-order

One of the many games and expansion packs that Paradox Interactive plans to release this quarter is East India Company: Privateer, the $9.99 downloadable expansion to the historical strategy game from developer Nitro Games. The expansion is now available for pre-order and folks who pony up their money early will get something before everyone else will.

That something is the previously announced free East India Company update titled the "Designer's Cut" which will add new features like two new multiplayer mode, new port views, a way for tactical battles to be fought in island environments and more. The Privateer pre-orders will be able to download the "Designer's Cut" now before its released for the rest of the world on October 27. In addition the main game is available for 50 percent off its normal price when you pre-order the Privateer expansion.

East India Company only $5 at Direct2Drive

Direct2Drive's fifth anniversary promotions may be over but the $5 sale is apparently going to be around for awhile, at least in a more limited form. The PC game download site has announced that the recent historical strategy game East India Company is now on sale for a mere $5.

In case you are wondering that's a massive discount from the game's normal $29.99 price tag. The title, from developer Nitro Games and publisher Paradox Interactive, will soon get a new update that will add a couple of new multiplayer modes among other things. A commercial expansion pack, Privateer, has been announced but there's no word on a release date.

East India Company to get new content with upcoming free update

Nitro Games' recent historical strategy game East India Company is already getting an upcoming expansion pack called Privateer. However there are already plans to release a new patch for the game (they are calling it a "free add-on") that will add a number of new features and content to the title.

Publisher Paradox Interactive is calling the upcoming update a "Designer's Cut" that will give the game two new multiplayer modes (Beehive and Breakthrough - and no, we don't know what they mean by those titles either) along with new port views, a way for tactical battles to be fought in island environments and more. Look for the update to be released on October 27. In the meantime Paradox has lowered the price of the game to $29.99.

East India Company expands its fleet with Privateer trailer

Privateer, an upcoming expansion to the recently released East India Company, was announced at GamesCom 2009. Details are still a little scarce, but as the title suggests, players will be able to hire privateer ships to loot and raid trade ships from rival nations. Of course, what goes around comes around, so players will have to find ways to defend against these mercenary pirates. Release details have yet to be announced.
