Nexon America increase revenues by 42 percent in final quarter of 2010

The free-to-play game publisher Nexon America continues to gain more revenues for its game line-up. Today the publisher behind games like Combat Arms, Dungeon Fighter Online and Maple Story announced that revenues for the fourth quarter of 2010 increased by 42 percent compared to the same time period in 2009. Revenues for the month of December alone went up by 60 percent (the company did not reveal specific revenue numbers nor did it announce any profit numbers).

The company launched its latest free-to-play MMO, Vindictus, during that time period. In 2011 it will launch at least one more game, another fantasy MMO titled Dragon Nest.

Dragon Nest trailer cries for the goddess

It's time for yet another Nexon free-to-play MMO! In this case, it's Dragon Nest, an action MMO that aims to give players two things: interesting, randomized dungeons and complete control over their character. Regardless of what the gameplay is actually like, we have to say that this trailer is sort of silly and campy. In a good way, though. It goes swiftly from more simple fantasy fare to dark fantasy and back again, and the art style's cheerfulness belies the rather gruesome monster designs. As always, this makes it interesting, although not unusual for Nexon.

GDC 2010: Nexon to launch more free-to-play games in US

The Nexon America publishing team has done a good job getting people interested in playing their free-to-play online titles like Combat Arms and Dungeon Fighter Online. Now they are showing off a couple of upcoming games they plan to add to their library at GDC 2010. 1Up.com reports that both have already launched in Nexon's native Korea.

One of the games is called Dragon Nest, a very colorful fantasy MMO that looks akin to a Final Fantasy game. Due in the US in early 2011, the game will focus on player-versus-enviroment play with four classes (Archer, Warrior, Cleric and Sorceress). The other new game, due in the US this fall, is Vindictus (shown above). It will have a much darker and more violent art style and will use Valve's Source Engine as its basis.

Dragon Nest MMO announced

New MMO announcements continue to be made with a great deal of frequency. Today a new development team based in Korea called Eyedentity has revealed its presence and announced their first fantasy MMO called Dragon Nest. The dev team consists of former members of NCsoft, Webzen, Gravity and other Korean based publishers and are creating Dragon Nest using their own in-house graphics engine.

The game itselft sounds like it will be more of an action title with a colorful art style. The press release announcing the game sound like it will have some Diablo elements such as random generating dungeons and random spawning monsters. Dragon Nest is due to be beta tested in Korea in late 2008 with a worldwide release (including North America) in 2009.
