Second Dragon Age: Origins prose novel released this week

Last March, Tor Books released Dragon Age: The Stolen Throne, a novel that served as a prequel to the events in BioWare's upcoming fantasy RPG Dragon Age: Origins. This week Tor Books releases a second novel, Dragon Age: The Calling, to book stores.

The second novel is once again written by the game's lead writer David Gaider and has the lead character of the first book, Maric, now set up as king of the game's land Ferelden. The novel has King Maric leading the forces of the Gray Wardens to find one of their own who has turned bad (we hate when that happens). The trade paperback sells for $14.99. Dragon Age: Origins is due in stores a few weeks later on November 3.

New Dragon Age: Origins screenshots; prequel novel now in stores

Electronic Arts may have pushed back the release of Dragon Age: Origins from this month to fall of 2009 but developer BioWare is still hard at work on their long-in-development fantasy RPG. Today they sent out some new screenshots that we have added to our growing gallery of visuals from the title.

While the game itself has been delayed, the previously announced prequel prose novel, Dragon Age: The Stolen Throne, is now available in bookstores. Written by BioWare scriptwriter David Gaider, the book is available via publisher Tor Books in trade paperback for $14.95. You can read the first chapter of the book at the game's official web site.

Dragon Age: Origins novel announced

Much like they did for Mass Effect, developer BioWare has decided to launch a series of prose novels based on another of their game properties. This time it's for their upcoming fantasy RPG Dragon Age: Origins. Today Tor Books announced that they will publish the first such Dragon Age novel, The Stolen Throne, on March 3.

Fans can head to the game's official web site to learn more about the novel and read a sample chapter as well. The Stolen Throne, written by the game's lead writer at Bioware David Gaider, takes place before the events of the game. The trade paperback release will cost $14.95.
