Leaked Duke Nukem Forever level screenshots hit the Internet

We had a feeling that some screenshots from Duke Nukem Forever might find their way onto the Internet after the shut down earlier this week of 3D Realms. We were right. Now former 3D Realms art director Tramell Isaac has launched a personal blog and has quickly posted up some screenshots showing off a few of the levels in the long-in-development FPS.

Trammel worked at 3D Realms for the better part of three years (previously he worked at Interplay, Sony Online and Obsidian Entertainment) before the company closed its doors. The screenshots that he has posted on his blog site don't really give a sense of the gameplay they were going for but at least we get to look at some of the level and art styles that 3D Realms was going for. So far there's still no official word from 3D Realms's executives about what precisely happened to make them close up shop nor what this means for the future of the game itself. There's also some concept artwork from the game on the blog site of now former 3D Realms artist Layman Johnson. Our sister site Joystiq has also posted up a gallery of concept artwork from artist Chris Smith.

Crackle.com does show off Duke Nukem Forever gameplay . . . kind of

Earlier this week we reported that former Monolith founder Jason Hall was going to debut his new web based talk show called the Jace Hall Show. The announcement claimed that the first episode would have a new trailer from Duke Nukem Forever, the long awaited FPS from 3D Realms. However, the developer's president George Broussard quickly put that bit of news down, saying, if there was a new trailer for Duke Nukem Forever on the show, "I'd tell you if I did."

Well, now you can see that debut episode on Crackle.com yourself and after chatting with team members about the game, Hall is actually seen playing the game near the end of the episode. It's an over the shoulder camera viewpoint so that means no direct feed footage. However there is a lot of shooting, a brief look at the weapons interface and some interesting visuals. So while it's not a true trailer it's still something new from the game that's been over 10 years in development. Now we just need something a little more substantial . . . like a release date.

Oh, and there's a chat with Heroes actor Greg Grunberg.
