Hunted: The Demon's Forge pre-orders announced

Publisher Bethesda Softworks is prepping for the future release of Hunted: The Demon's Forge by announcing some pre-order specials for folks who put their money down early for the upcoming fantasy action-RPG. The inXile entertainment-developed title, which is due for release sometime in 2011, will have many different pre-order offers from several brick-and-mortar and digital download outlets.

The retailers include Best Buy, GameStop, Walmart and Amazon.com with Steam and Direct2Drive also offering digital pre-order specials. The in-game items include new levels and new monsters that are used in Hunted's dungeon creator system along with exclusive character items and weapons. Battlefield Bad Company 2 gets 40 percent one-day sale at Direct2Drive

If you are looking for another way to save money while still getting one of the most popular shooters of 2010 you need go no further than Direct2Drive's current one day sale for Battlefield Bad Company 2. The game from developer Digital Illusions and publisher Electronic Artsis currently on sale at the PC game download site.

For one day only you can download and purchase the game for $29.95. That's a 40 percent price cut from its normal price. While the PC version doesn't have access to the newly released Onslaught four player co-op mode it's still a pretty good deal.

Borderlands on sale this weekend at Steam and Direct2Drive

If for some strange reason you haven't picked up a copy and played Borderlands yet, there's not much of an excuse anymore. Gearbox Software's mix of first person shooter and RPG is on sale this weekend over at Steam and Direct2Drive.

The Steam sale lets players get a 50 percent discount on the original game, reducing its price to just $24.99. This also applies to the game's four-pack deal. From now until Monday you can get four digital download copies of the game for a mere $74.98. The Direct2Drive sale also has Borderlands.on sale for the same price as Steam but they also have put the Borderlands Triple Pack Bundle (with the original game and the first two mini-expansions) on sale for just $44.95.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 digital pre-orders offer six in-game unlocks

Battlefield Bad Company 2's PC release is due out on March 2 and pre-orders for the first person shooter are now being taken over at both the Steam and Direct2Drive PC game download service. Buying the game via either outlet will give players access to the game's upcoming PC multiplayer beta test that starts this Thursday.

However, players also will gain early in-game access to six weapons and items when the full game is released. The unlocks are the same on the Steam and Direct2Drive versions and include two weapons, a vehicle motion sensor, improved armor for vehicles and more. There's no word yet if the unlocks will be available to everyone else as a paid download or if players can access them for free while playing the game.

Aion dominates Direct2Drive weekly top 10 PC game sales list, again


You can't escape the fact that NCsoft's MMO Aion is a popular title. Much like this week's list of Steam's top 10 best selling PC games list, the latest such list from IGN's Direct2Drive shows the game on top for the first two spots (Collector's at number 1 and Standard at number 2). The indie-made MMO Fallen Earth also continues to do well at number 3 on the list this week.

As one might expect, this week's list also has a number of games that Direct2Drive put on sale for just $5.

MMO dominate Direct2Drive pre-orders, too


Steam's download service has seen MMO games dominate the top spots in weekly sales but so has one of its main rivals Direct2Drive. The latest weekly list of the top 10 Direct2Drive PC games in terms of sales shows three different MMOs in the top three spots.

Cryptic's Champions Online is currently number one, followed by the pre-order of the Aion Collector's Edition from NCsoft. Finally the independently made MMO Fallen Earth is at the number three position this week. Like Aion it will be officially released on September 22. The entire top 10 PC game sales list for Direct2Drive is as follows for last week:

The Sims 3 sells 1.4 million copies in first week


Electronic Arts has to be pleased with the sales of their latest people sim game The Sims 3, . In a new press release it stated that the game has sold 1.4 million copies for the PC and Mac versions which EA said was the biggest PC game launch in its history. In addition, over 7 million downloads of user-created items for the game have also been recorded in its first week .

The Sims 3 is already a huge sales hit according to IGN's Direct2Drive sales list. Their latest top 10 sales list of their downloadable games has no less than four versions of The Sims 3 on the list. The first three spots are of the regular PC Sims 3 game in first place followed by the Mac version and the PC Sims 3 bundled with a Prima strategy guide. The Mac Sims 3 with strategy guide came in at number eight on the top 10 list. You can bet that The Sims 3 will be on that list for some time to come.
