More weekend PC game sales at Direct2Drive make us happy

There are a few things that will make us happy in 2010. The day StarCraft 2 comes out, the launch of the 11th Doctor adventures and saving money on PC games. Thankfully we can be happy now as we found some additional sales on the interwebs. We hope revealing this info makes you happy too.

Direct2Drive has put 2009's be-an-evil-fantasy-person game Overlord II on sale for just $9.99 from now until Friday. Also the indie game Aztaka is on sale for just $7.50. You can also take $5 off Divinity 2 for this weekend only if you use the code 5OFFDIVINITY2 at checkout.

GamersGate and Direct2Drive get upgrades

Two major PC game download sites have announced different kinds of upgrades today. One is GamersGate who have sent over a press release announcing that they have switched to a new server network that will allow gamers to download their library of titles nearly four times faster than before. The increase in speed is due to their new network run by the Internap Network Services Corporation.

Also, IGN's Direct2Drive has just launched a new European oriented web site allowing gamers from across the pond access to games with their own pricing and deals. Indeed the site launches with a sale of THQ-published games for as much as 75 percent off.

Steam and Direct2Drive hold mid-week PC game sales

Tuesday is usually a day that most people dread. It's a day that smack dab in the middle of the week and the weekend looks like its months away. But thankfully there are some mid-week PC game sales to keep the work blues away.

Steam's regular mid-week sale this week is for Titan Quest Gold. From now until Thursday you can purchase and download the action-RPG game and its expansion pack from now defunct developer Iron Lore together for the super low price of just $4.99. Direct2Drive has also put the acclaimed indie game Cogs on sale for a limited time for just $4.95.

Weekend PC game sales include free game (yes, a free game)

It's one of the worst weekends of the year; the weekend in between the NFC and AFC championship games and the Super Bowl. Sure there's the Pro Bowl but that game is worse to check out than a junior high league football matchup. However we do have one thing that will make the weekend cool; some great game sales including a way to get a PC game for free.

That free game offer comes from Telltale Games who, as we reported earlier today, is offering the first season of Sam and Max for just $4.95 from now until Sunday. Telltale is also giving folks a chance to get one free game episode from any of their many episodic titles if they complete an online survey. The survey should take five to 10 minutes to complete. The free game offer is valid until Telltale gets enough data from the survey so if you want your freebie you need to move quickly.

In other PC game sales news, Steam is offering two game bundles for just $2 each for this weekend. One is for the Freedom Force bundle (with both of Irrational Games' super hero RPG titles). The other is for the X-Com bundle (with all five games in the sci-fi series). In addition Tropico 3 is on sale this weekend for just $13.60. Finally, while not a weekend sale, Steam has added a new bundle to its lineup, the 1C Complete Collection. You can buy 17 games from 1C Company in this bundle and pay just $69.99 for the entire line-up.

Direct2Drive also has a weekend sale, as it takes off $5 from the recent action game Dark Void for this weekend only. The discount is valid if you put in the code 5OFFDARKVOID at checkout. And for the next week they have the first person shooter Red Faction Guerrilla for just $4.95.

More PC game download sales this weekend

We looked and looked and looked some more. And what do you know? We found some more PC game download sales to report about this weekend:

Mid-week PC game sales now available

If you are looking for some sales on some recent PC strategy games we have a couple of mid-week suggestions that we can give you today:

Can't afford to buy the Nexus One? Then maybe you should bypass the Google Phone and try out the new PC game download deals over at both Steam and Direct2Drive. Both PC game download sites have some early week sales on their sites. Even Colt McCoy can't argue with these deals (that's our favorite new name, by the way).

Steam has a mid-week deal on all of the game's in the King's Bounty fantasy strategy-RPG series. All the games in the series are now 75 percent off their normal price until Thursday.
