GDC 2011 is officially over and while we personally didn't attend we certainly got a lot of news from afar. Look for even more GDC related news and info bits over the weekend.

• If you are wondering when GDC 2012 will happen, wonder no more. It will be held in San Fransisco on March 5-9.
• Steam has a minor automatic update for Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike: Source, Day of Defeat: Source and Half-Life 2: Deathmatch.
• The retail version of Two Worlds II in the UK has been delayed, again, to March 11.
• BioWare is hosting a live chat-demo of Dragon Age 2 on Saturday starting at 4 pm Eastern time.

We cannot tell you how disappointed we are about Digital Illusions' decision to cancel the promised PC port of Battlefield 1943. Is it ultimately a minor occurrence in the overall scheme of things? Sure. Will we still want to buy and play Battlefield 3? Of course. But it once again shows that for the most part publisher EA treats the PC as a second class citizen when it comes to multi-platform games.

• Steam has new automatic updates for A.R.E.S (including a new suit), Crasher, and Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike: Source, Day of Defeat: Source and Half-Life 2: Deathmatch.
• The latest Irrational Games audio interview has Ken Levine chatting with Gearbox Software's Randy Pitchford.
• Bethesda Softworks has reportedly fired its second law firm in its continued fight with Interplay over the Fallout game license.
• Game Informer has a new podcast where Bethesda Softworks' Todd Howard answers fan questions about The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim.

There's some interesting stuff that we will be posting about early in the morning. Just a heads up.

• Steam has new automatic updates for Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike: Source, Day of Defeat: Source and Half-Life 2: Deathmatch.
• From now until 1 pm Eastern time Tuesday you can get Darksiders for $9.99 over at Direct2Drive.
• You can now play Wolfenstein 3D in, well, 1D. It's as weird as it sounds.
• Check out this cool new Fallout fan film that's all about trying to find some Nuka Cola.
• Speaking of which someone has created their own Nuka Cola bottle and case design. Neat.

And so another week ends as we await the next week when the first big PC game of the year, DC Universe Online, will be released. Will this game make super hero MMO players forget all about City of Heroes or Champions Online?

• Steam has an automatic update available for Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike Source, Day of Defeat Source and Half-Life 2 Deathmatch.
• The Star Wars The Old Republic web site has added some more character biographies to check out.
• Medal of Honor-branded radio controlled vehicles are coming out later this year.
• We love cool PC case mods and this one that Nvidia showed off at CES 2011 may be one of our favorite.

For a day that's only a few days away from THE BIG DAY, we certainly had a ton of news to report. Hopefully tomorrow things will actually slow down a tick:

• As promised, the first episode of the Back To The Future game series is now available for download at Telltale Game's web site.
• Steam has a number of updates today for games like Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike: Source, Day of Defeat: Source, Half-Life 2: Deathmatch, Blood Bowl Legendary Edition and Alternitiva,
• Steam also has a new Super Meat Boy update that adds the World of Goo ball to the game.
• Steam has a Worms Reloaded update that adds some community made content such as five single player maps, three multiplayer maps and more.
• The web browser based game site Kongregate is sponsoring a $25,000 Unity 3D game design contest.
• You can now check out how far Battlefield Bad Company 2 Vietnam players have to go before unlocking the expansion's fifth map.

It's the weekend and also six days until a bunch of us eat until it hurts. MMMM...turkey.

• It's finally out: the 1.1 beta patch for Elemental has been released via Impulse.
• This week's Mutation gameplay mode for Left 4 Dead 2 is a repeat of Gib Fest.
• There are lots of bug patch updates today on Steam including Lead and Gold, Left 4 Dead 2, Twin Sector, Killing Floor, the open beta of Men of War Assault Squad. Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike Source, Day of Defeat Source, and Half-Life 2 Deathmatch,
• A new indie-themed game download portal, Show Me The Games, is now available.
• The official Breach web site now lists all of the weapons that will be featured in the upcoming game.
• Heroes of Newerth has introduced a new hero character, Moraxus.
• It's another mysterious bar code teasing us about BioWare's next game.
• Most of us, for better or for worse, would not be playing PC games without Microsoft's Windows OS. This week is its 25th anniversary.

It was yet another fairly slow news day in PC gaming land. Is anyone surprised that Battlefield Bad Company 2 Vietnam is being shown for the first time at the Tokyo Game Show?

• Lots of new patches are available via Steam for Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter, Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike Source, Day of Defeat Source, Garry's Mod, Fallen Earth, Gratituious Space Battles, and Stargate Resistance.
• Also the Steam release of Sacraboar has a new update that adds 10 new missions, new achievements, Steam Cloud supports and multi-monitor support.
• All of the Infinite Interactive Puzzle games, including Puzzle Quest 2, now have Steam Cloud support.
• The StarCraft II forums now have some answers to some common map editor questions.
• Want to make a mask that looks like Borderlands' Psycho Bandits? Here's how you do it.

Wow! Gamescom hasn't even started yet (officially anyway) but there sure were a ton of PC game exclusive announcements today. Apparently if you want to announce a PC only game, go to Germany:

• New bug fix updates were released via Steam for Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike Source and Day of Defeat: Source.
• There's also a new update to Garry's Mod available for download
• Steam also has an update for the Counter-Strike Source beta build.
• GoG.com has added the Total Annihilation: Commander Pack (the original game and its two expansions) to its DRM-free library.
• Did you know there's a game based on the TV show Criminal Minds that's due out in December? Now you do.
• Brink is sponsoring the 2010 European Parkour tour for some reason.
• Fallout: New Vegas pre-order specials for Europe, South Africa and Australia have been revealed.
• Speaking of which check out these pictures of the various voice actors in Fallout New Vegas in their recording sessions. Hey, its Wayne Newton, dude!

Valve continues to add to the number of its games that can be playable on a Mac. We have seen Mac versions of Portal, Team Fortress 2, Half-Life 2 and Counter-Strike Source. Now comes word that one of Valve lesser known games, Day of Defeat Source, is also now available to play natively on Apple's machines.

Like most of the rest of the Mac games on Steam, players who already own the PC version of Day of Defeat Source can download the Mac version for free and both Mac and PC owners can play each other online. The WWII themed shooter began as a Half-Life 1 mod in 2000. The mod was later purchased by Valve and turned into a stand alone retail product in 2003. The Source Engine version was released in 2005. While the game has had a number of bug updates, this is the first major update for Day of Defeat Source since 2008 when new achievements and a new map were added to the game.
