Dogfighter to get new content patch in March

Dogfighter, the arcade flying action game from developer Dark Water Studios, was released back in June 2010 via Steam. However the development team is still working on updating the game with new content and bug fixes. In a post on the developers newly revamped web site it talks about a new update called Aces High.

The free update will include a new map for the game that takes place above a mountain range with zeppelins flying around. There will also be two new planes added (The Angelfire and the Killerbee) and the usual bug fixes and improvements. The update should be released sometime in March.

Dogfighter gets update and $1.50 sale price (yep, $1.50) on Steam

Last June Dark Water Studios released Dogfighter, a fun arcade flying action game that reminded us a lot of one of our favorite PC games of all time, Crimson Skies. Today the game got a new free content update via Steam. More importantly, Dogfighter is now on sale for a limited time for just $1.50, an 85 percent price cut. The same applies to the game's four pack deal which means you can buy four copies (one for you and three for your buddies) for just $4.50.

Along with the sale comes the free content update which adds a new tutorial to the game, a new plane (the Mongoose Interceptor) a new level (The Old Gods) support for dedicated servers and bug fixes.

Dogfighter to get free content update

Dogfighter was released a few months ago via Steam but the flying action game from developer Dark Water Studios has been getting feature updates since its release. Today the developer announced plans to release its first major content update which will be offer for free for the game's owners via Steam.

One of the updates can be seen above. Its a new plane called the Mongoose which has high speed boosts but could stall at slower speeds. Other additions planned for the update include a new level (Hoi Ling Bay) a new gameplay mode (Lone Wolf), the addition of a tutorial mode to the game, support for Xbox 360 controllers and gameplay balance changes. There's no word on when the update will be released.

DogFighter gets new update, demo and 50 percent sale on Steam

When indie game developer Dark Water Studios released its arcade-like flying action game DogFighter last June on Steam it perhaps didn't get the attention it deserved. Now the developer has released a new and free update to the game that puts in some new features, including joystick support for the first time along with dedicated server support.

Along with the new update comes a free demo that can be downloaded via Steam. There's no word yet on what the demo contains. Also the full game is now on sale from now until August 23 for $8.49, a 50 percent savings. The DogFighter four-pack (one for your and three for your friends) is also on sale for 50 percent off ($25.48). Finally, Dark Water Studios is promising even more free content updates in the future that will include more planes, levels, guns and gameplay modes.

Interview: Dark Water Studios co-founder talks about Dogfighter

Over in Ireland, a indie development company called Dark Water Studios is about to launch Dogfighter via Steam (indeed the game is likely to be available for purchase by the time you read this). It's the company's first major commercial title and it tries to combine flying action gameplay with some first person shooter elements. And it looks like it's going to be a lot of fun to play

Big Download got a chance to ask some questions to one of the studio's co-founder Damien Gallagher. The result was a detailed look at both the game and the developer as it gets ready to launch its first title.

Dogfighter beta launches with limited keys

Last week we reported that Dogfighter, the upcoming arcade flying action game from indie developer Dark Water Studios, was set for a release via Steam on June 14. Today the developer has launched its beta test for the game and is giving out beta keys at the official Dogfighter web site.

All you have to do is enter your email address to get sent your Dogfighter beta key. The catch? There are only 1,500 sets of two keys available so it looks like you may have to move fairly quickly in order to secure your beta test spot.

Dogfighter set for release June 14

Last September we first reported on Dogfighter, a flying action game from indie developer Dark Water Studios. The game has progressed greatly since then and now the game's official web site has posted up a June 14 release date for the digital download title via Steam.

Just a reminder: This game is a little bit like Crimson Skies in that you are flying WWI style biplanes but with lots of exotic weapons in a variety of settings. Look for seven planes to pilot, a host of offensive and defensive weapons along with power ups and support for both single and multiplayer modes. You can check out a recent trailer for the game after the jump:

DogFighter revealed

Sometimes you come across info about a game that you may not have heard of before but makes you sit up and take notice. Today is such a day when we were informed of a new arcade-style flying action game with some great looking graphics called (what else?) DogFighter.

The game is being developed by Ireland-based Dark Water Studios for both the PC and Xbox 360. The game world is a little like Crimson Skies; it's based on flying WWI biplanes but they have weapons like Hunter Missiles and Tesla Coils. You can fly these biplanes through a variety of settings, including deserts, mountain tops and even down underground in mining shafts. In addition to single player DogFighter is supposed to have multiplayer modes like Deathmatch, Race and Nemesis. The game is reportedly almost done and the developer is looking to release DogFighter before the end of the year.

On a related note you can check out a new tech demo video showing off over 4,000 planes at once using the same graphics engine as DogFighter after the jump:
