Zynga acquires Boston-based Floodgate Entertainment

Facebook-based game publisher Zynga continues to acquire game developers by the bucketful. Today the company announced its latest purchase; the Boston-based developer Floodgate Entertainment. As always specific financial details about Zynga's latest purchase were undisclosed.

Founded in 2000 by former members of the defunct Looking Glass Studios, Floodgate first started by developing PC games. It was the main developer for the expansion pack Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of Undrentide which was released in 2003. Later it helped out developer Arkane Studios with its work on the action-RPG Dark Messiah of Might and Magic in 2006. However for the past few years it has concentrated on casual game development.

Steam puts four Ubisoft games for one low price this weekend

For the past four days, the Steam download service has been putting various recent PC games from Ubisoft on sale at 50 percent off. While each game was put on sale for one day only today Steam launched its regular weekend sale and put four older Ubisoft games together for one low price.

This weekend only you can get Beyond Good and Evil, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, Far Cry and IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 together for just $9.99. Normally each game cost $9.99 each so this weekend you are getting a bundle of four games for 75 percent off their normal prices. Nice.
