Interview: Cyanide Studio chats about Blood Bowl Legendary Edition

2009's release of Blood Bowl finally brought Games Workshop's unique mix of sport game and fantasy strategy title to the PC. The game from developer Cyanide Studio and publisher Focus Home Interactive achieved a cult following and sales were good enough to get the development team to work on Blood Bowl: Legendary Edition. This new version of the game, out later this fall, will add 11 new teams to the game, a new story mode and more additions and improvements.

Big Download got a chance to ask questions to the Cyanide Studio team and got answers from the game's production director Antoine Villepreux and its lead programmer Pierre Marie Charavel. If you check out their answers you may find that some of the previously unnamed games in the new Blood Bowl have been revealed in our interview.

Norse team to show up in Blood Bowl Legendary Edition

The announcement earlier this year of Blood Bowl Legendary Edition meant that fans of the previous game can now expect a new version with a ton of new teams added to this mix of fantasy strategy and sports. One of those new teams was revealed this week, the Norse faction.

As one might expect the Norse team are high powered bruisers on the Blood Bowl fields and can even bring in some Yetis to help them out in matches. And you thought Lambeau Field is cold? Get ready for a true blizzard when you play a game at the Norse's Blood Bowl stadium. The final game from developer Cyanide Studio with all 20 teams plus a new story mode is still scheduled for release this fall.

Blood Bowl to add new team for free via download

The Games Workshop based fantasy-themed sports-strategy game Blood Bowl has apparently become a big hit in retail store in Europe. So much so that the development team at Cyanide Studio has decided to add a new team to the game, the Dark Elves.

According to a note on the game's official web site the new team will be added into the main game as a free download sometime in November. The Dark Elves join the eight other teams in the game and will have their own star player, animation and even their own cheerleaders. In addition the full game will be re-released in Europe via download and in retail stores with the new Dark Elves team includes. Sadly, the US market is still digital download only with no retail release.

New Dungeon Party screenshots

Several months ago, French developer Cyanide Studios announced plans for Dungeon Party, a free to play MMO with a cartoony art style. It's been a while since new info has been released on the game but this week Cyanide released new screenshots of Dungeon Party for all to see on the game's official forums.

While the game apparently missed its beta test date for this past summer Dungeon Party is now scheduled for launch in the first quarter of 2009. It's still going to have players pick from six character classes and then battle in teams of five players against another team searching for treasure with a number of traps and monsters to deal with in each round.

New Blood Bowl screenshots show off two new races

Games Workshop isn't all about the Warhammer franchise. They also have Blood Bowl, a table-top game that's a mix of football and . . . well, fantasy and magic with orcs, humans and other races fighting it out on the field. Now developer Cyanide Studio and publisher Focus Home Interactive are working on a PC version of Blood Bowl and today they released some new screenshots from the title

As the poster to the right of this post indicates, these screenshots reveal two more Blood Bowl races, the dwarves and the lizardmen. According to the game's official web site, dwarves in the game are incredibly tough and and block really well but have poor agility. Lizardmen are the opposite; they aren't strong at all but are very fast and quick. Both teams can summon up large units to do even more damage on the field. We will have more info on Blood Bowl in the months ahead of its early 2008 release date.
