Confrontation announced

A fantasy-themed war game is getting adapted for the PC gaming genre. Focus Home Interactive has announced plans to publish Confrontation, which is based on the minatures war game from publisher Rackham. The PC game adaptation is being handled by Cyanide Studio.

Confrontation is being designed as an real-time strategy title with some role playing elements with four different factions involved: "the brutal Orcs of the Tree-Spirit, the ferocious Wolfen packs, the fearsome Griffon warriors or the terrifying creatures of the Scorpion." Players will create and develop their squads with various types of weapons and equipment to fight on the battlefield. Confrontation is due out sometime in the fourth quarter of 2011.

Game of Thrones RPG revealed

While developer Cyanide Studio is already known to be working on the turn-based strategy game A Game of Thrones Genesis, that's apparently not the only game that the team is working on based on George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy novel series. French language web site Factor News has revealed that the development studio is working on a full fledged RPG based on the series as well.

The site got to actually see an early build of the game which takes place during the time of the novels but tells original stories with new characters (although characters from the books will make appearences). The game is still early in development so there's no release date. Meanwhile A Game of Thrones Genesis is still due for release sometime this summer.

Finally the series will get a turn-based strategy PC game, A Game of Thrones: Genesis, from developer Cyanide Studio and publisher Focus Home Interactive that will be released later this year.

Big Download got a chance to learn more about the game from its designer, Cyanide's Regis Robin, including how the game fits into the novels' timeline, how Martin is involved in the game's development and more.

A Game Of Thrones Genesis reveals first screenshots

In June 2010, developer Cyanide Studio and publisher Focus Home Interactive announced plans to release the fantasy strategy game A Game of Thrones Genesis. The game is based on author George R.R. Martin's A Song Of Fire And Ice fantasy novel series.

Today the publisher has released the first two screenshots from the game showing off the visuals that gamers can expect in the game adaptation of Martin's novels. The full game has a single player campaign that will feature options for military, economic , diplomacy and even "dirty tricks" to fight with the Houses in the Kingdom of Westeros. The game is due out sometime this summer.

Blood Bowl Legendary Edition reveals High Elf team

Blood Bowl Legendary Edition is set for its downloadable release next week and today the folks at developer Cyanide Studio and publisher Focus Home Interactive have revealed the 11th and final new team that will be added to this revamped version of the fantasy-themed sports game. The High Elf team are supposedly very good at Blood Bowl's passing and receiving game but they are also don't have a lot in the power department.

Just a reminder: owners of the first Blood Bowl can get a 30 percent discount when purchasing the new Legendary Edition of the game with its 11 new teams, a story mode and more. It's due for release on October 28.

Blood Bowl Legendary Edition getting vampires; more on game's transition

With just a couple of weeks to go before Blood Bowl: Legendary Edition is released, developer Cyanide Studio and publisher Focus Home Interactive have revealed yet another team for the expanded fantasy-themed sports game. The vampire team is not only strong and fast on the field but can hypnotize their opponents. They also can attack spectators for their blood. Ouch.

In related news, the official multiplayer servers for the original Blood Bowl game will be undergoing maintainence from October 19-26 to prepare them for the launch of all the new content in the Legendary Edition when it goes live on October 28. As we have reported before owners of the first Blood Bowl game can get a 30 percent discount when they purchase the Legendary Edition. People who pre-order the Legendary Edition by October 20 may get a chance to get the full game before its official release "in order to participate in the last server tests."

The Nurgle invade Blood Bowl Legendary Edition; game delayed to November

So we know what you are thinking right now: "What in the wide, wide world of sports is a Nurgle?" Well in the universe of Blood Bowl Legendary Edition this latest team in the fantasy-themed sports title actually worship at the feet of Nurgle, "the Chaos God of pestilence and decay." In addition to physical activities, the Nurgle team can also generate a disease called Nurgle's Rot to take out their opponents in the stadium.

In related news, the release date for the game from developer Cyanide Studio and publisher Focus Home Interactive has changed. Originally set for release on October 28, the game is now planned for release sometime in November.

Blood Bowl Legendary Edition gets Necromantic team

The team roster for the upcoming Blood Bowl Legendary Edition just revealed yet another franchise. The game from developer Cyanide Studio and publisher Focus Home Interactive will bring us the Necromatic team when it's released later this year. This team of the undead are no slow moving zombies. According to the publisher the members of the team include Flesh Golems and Werewolves which can take out an opposing team's armor with their claws.

As we reported earlier this month, owners of the first Blood Bowl game will be able to purchase the Legendary Edition, with lots more teams and the new Story mode, for 30 percent off its normal $40 price.

Blood Bowl owners to get discount on upcoming Legendary Edition

When Blood Bowl Legendary Edition was first announced earlier this year we wondered if publisher Focus Home Interactive would give owners of the original Blood Bowl game a bit of a price break. The new version of the fantasy-themed sports-strategy game contains all of the content of the original title plus all new content (more teams and stadiums, new story mode and more).

As it turns out, that's exactly what's going to happen. The game's official web site has revealed that owners of the first Blood Bowl game (either the Standard or Dark Elves edition) will be able to put in their player key in a special store web site in October. That will entitle them to a 30 percent discount for the Legendary Edition of the game which should cost about $40 normally. That means previous players can get the new version for about $28. The game will be available via digital download around October 28.

Blood Bowl Legendary Edition to add the Khemri team

PC gamers still don't have a Madden-style football game (although QuickHit is close to launching its NFL-approved browser-based title) but at least we are still getting Blood Bowl Legendary Edition sometime before the end of the year. Today publisher Focus Home Interactive announced that the latest new team that will be added in the fantasy-themed sports game is the Khemri.

What are the Khemri? They are basically undead skeletons that are both powerful and very fragile that can naturally regenerate as undead creatures tend to do. We still have a few more teams that are yet to be officially revealed, although we do know from our recent interview about the game that we can expect a vampire team at some point.
