Upcoming Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light DLC characters revealed

We've been promised some extra downloadable content for Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light and now some info has been revealed about what extra characters will be available for the Crystal Dynamics-developed action-adventure game. One of the DLC packs is apparently already in the game as a YouTube video of a PC hack shows that Kain and Raziel will be available. For those of you too young to remember these two characters were the leads in the Legacy of Kain fantasy action series that Crystal Dynamics worked on from 1996 to 2003 before becoming the custodian of the Lara Croft franchise.

The other character DLC was revealed in a "tweet" from Crystal Dynamics announcing that Kane and Lynch of the game series of the same name would also be included in a Lara Croft DLC pack. In fact the developer is asking its fans which pack (Kane and Lynch or Kain and Raziel) should be released first. We should get a (legal) download of the character packs before the end of the year. In the meantime you can check out the Kain and Raziel YouTube video after the jump:

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light to be released for PC on September 28

Earlier this year we reported that the PC port of Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light would be released a few weeks after its launch on the Xbox 360's Xbox Live Arcade. Today we received word that the downloadable action-adventure game from developer Crystal Dynamics will be released on the PC via Steam on September 28 for $14.99.

Even after the release of the game. Crystal Dynamics plans to offer several downloadable expansions for the title from October to December. Three of these expansions will give the heroine of the Tomb Raider series new areas to explore with more puzzles and combat. The other two expansions are character packs which will let players play the game with unnamed but "other well-known videogame characters..."

E3 08: Hands-on with Crysis Warhead

When Crytek and Electronic Arts announced that the next game in the Crysis series would not be a sequel but a parallel story to the events in the first game, some folks scratched their heads. What? Why? Well, after playing a single level of the game at E3 2008 today we are certainly not complaining. Crysis Warhead is looking to be a more aggressive and faster paced game than the original, and not just because you are playing as "Psycho", one of the members of the original squad in the first game that was a tad more prone to shoot first and ask questions later.

Our single player demo began with us driving a armored carrier armed with a heavy gun as we escorted a friend of ours through the jungle in another section of the island featured in the first game. The demo had us shooting tons of targets who wanted use to die painful deaths. North Korean infantry, jeeps, manned gun emplacements, trucks and even helicopters stood in our paths as we traversed the path. However, the armor of our vehicle combined with our powerful cannon on top made short work of most of out opponents. It was very much like playing a rail shooter except you did have some freedom to shoot at targets and even get out of the vehicle to take on the enemy on foot. Oh, and stuff exploded. Exploded in large quantities. It was basically like being in a Michael Bay movie on steroids.
