Ken Levine reveals his top 10 all time favorite games

While Ken Levine is still working on his top secret next project at 2K Boston following the release of the original BioShock over two years ago, he's apparently got some time to reveal his top 10 favorite games of all time to IndustryGamers. As one might expect, Levine's picks include several PC exclusives.

Among the games picked are Master of Magic ("It's Civilization with dragons. And spell making. And giant armies of Dwarves and stuff. Why is there no sequel? Is there no God?"), Baldur's Gate 2 ("I play it for the combats") and Company of Heroes ("The RTS that reminded me I could still love RTS."). And his number one pick is not much of a shock but still funny to read. You can check out the entire list at IndustryGamers right now.

Company of Heroes games 50 percent off of Steam today only

If you still want to get Titan Quest via Steam for 50 percent off it's normal price, well you are too late. That one day only sale is done. Gone. Finished. However the week-long series of one day sales of THQ PC games on Steam does continue today with the Company of Heroes series.

Relic's line up of WWII RTS games can be downloaded via Steam for next 24 hours or so for 50 percent off their regular price. That means the original game is priced at just $9.99, the Opposing Fronts stand alone expansion is also available at $9.99 and the more recent Tales of Valor stand alone expansion is priced at $14.99. You can also get all three games for $34.99.

There are once again some terrific deals here including one game (Battlestations: Pacific) that normally sells for $49.99.

Could US players sign up for Company of Heroes Online?

THQ and developer Relic have not only been working on the Company of Heroes RTS games for the Western market, they have also been developing Company of Heroes Online, a persistant MMO version of their WWII RTS series for the Chinese market. Now the game's official franchise web site here in the US gives some hints that Company of Heroes Online could find its way to US players.

The post states that the game is currently in open beta testing in China but hints that others from outside China could join in soon. The game's new producer Greg Wilson states, " . . . we would like to invite COH fans around the world to join up and tell us what they think. Stay tuned for details on how to play the COHO Open Beta." That seems to be a big clue that the game could expand beyond its current borders.

Screenshots from new Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor map released

A few days ago, we reported that a new major update for Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor would include a new free multiplayer map for the WWII RTS game. Today developer Relic has released seven screenshots from that map which we have added to our gallery.

As we mentioned in our previous report, the new map will be a Panzerkrieg map, meaning it's based around tank battles. The actual name of the map is "Hébécrevon" and is described as a six-player map "featuring clusters of damaged buildings in a part of France that has seen better days." The map will come with some Panzerkrieg balance changes which will include "reducing the effectiveness of some Axis tanks and sticky bomb wielding infantry." A release date for the new patch and map has not yet been released.

New map coming in next Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor update

Relic is staying busy supporting its two recently released RTS games. It's already released a number of new maps for its sci-fi game Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War II. Now comes word that their WWII RTS title Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor is getting a new map in its next update.

While there is no release date for the next patch (2.600 for those of you keeping score) the game's official community web site has announced that the new map will be for the Panzerkrieg multiplayer mode. That means lots of new tank-on-tank action. There will also be a number of bug fixes and balance changes in the patch and Relic has promised to reveal more info before it's released.
