Combat Mission Battle For Normandy announced

When developer Battlefront.com started the Combat Mission turn-based military strategy games years ago they were set first in World War II before moving onto a modern setting. This week Battlefront.com announced plans to take the series back to WWII with Combat Mission Battle for Normandy.

This game concentrates on when the Allied forces invaded France at Normandy to take on the Nazis, from Operation Overlord (better know as D-Day) in June 1944 to August 1944. Look for individually modeled soldiers, destructable buildings, deformable terrain, two campaigns, several solo missions, a mission editor and more. There's no word yet on when the game will be released.

Combat Mission Afghanistan released

The Combat Mission turn-based military strategy games have mostly been about US military forces but this week the publisher of those games, Battlefront.com, has released something a bit unique. It's Combat Mission Afghanistan and its the first game in the series that was development primarily for a Russian audience.

Developed by Snowball Studios, the game takes place in two different time periods in the 1980s where the Soviet Union was trying (unsuccessfully as it turns out) to occupy and conquer Atghanistan. The game itself allows you to play as both the Soviets and as the mujahedeen resistance troops. The game is now available for $35 for either digital download or mail order or $45 for both versions.

Combat Mission Shock Force NATO announced

War game developer and publisher Battlefront.com has been releasing games in their Combat Mission series for a long time. Today the company revealed plans to release Combat Mission Shock Force NATO, the third "module" in their modern warfare-themed series.

This new product will add three new armies to the game (Germany, Canada and the Netherlands) and will also add more "units and vehicles for the Syrian side". The game will also feature a number of new scenarios and three new campaigns along with new voices, sound effects and other unnamed new features. There's no word yet on when it will be released.

GoG.com adds Combat Mission to line-up

Now GoG.com has added the first game in the series, Combat Mission Beyond Overlord, to its DRM-free PC game line-up. GoG.com is now offering gamers a chance to purchase and download the game for $9.99.
