Nexon America reports increases in revenue

The free-to-play game business continues to be a solid one for Nexon America. According to Gamasutra, the US subsidiary of the Korean-based Nexon reported that revenues from its various games generated 26 percent more revenue for its second quarter that ended on June 30. Specific revenue and profit numbers were not revealed.

This seems to continue a trend of increasing revenues for Nexon America as its games like the MMO Maple Story, the first person shooter Combat Arms and the recently launched Dungeon Fighter Online add new players. The next game that Nexon America plans to launch is the fantasy MMO Vindictus which should officially launch by the end of the year.

Combat Arms gets new content update

Last week we exclusively revealed that Nexon's popular free-to-play first person shooter Combat Arms would be getting a new map called Dark Forest in its latest content update. But that's not all that players of the game are getting in this new upgrade. There's also a new server called Papa Server that will be home to a new set of gameplay rules. These new Recreation Rules sound like they are made for the more casual player with lower weapon recoil as well as bigger hit-boxes

The new server is also home to the new Super Soldiers gameplay mode where boxes are dropped on the map and players will have 10 second to grab one. Each box has a special player boost (one makes you immune to damage, one increases speed and stamina and so on). Finally there are 30 optional Mini-Missions that players can choose to complete to increase their experience points.

Ouch! Combat Arms adds the 'Nut Shot' to its FPS game

Remember how cool it was to get a 'Monster Kill' in Unreal Tournament 2004 or a head shot in any number of first person shooters? Well, Nexon may have topped them all with the announcement today that the "Nut Shot" has been added to their free-to-play FPS Combat Arms.

Seriously . . . this is not a joke. In fact Nexon released a press release promoting the new feature in the game. The release states, "Female characters who succeed in unloading a Nut Shot giggle at their accomplishment, while male characters laugh heartily after hitting the target." If you are a player who has a female character in the game, don't worry; you can't have a "nut shot" happen to you. You can check out a YouTube video of a typical "nut shot" after the jump.
