Gamescom 2010 brings in 254,000 attendees; 2011 dates set

It's all over now but today the organizers of Gamescom are clearly happy with the response of the 2010 game consumer and trade event that was held last week. In only its second annual event in Cologne, Germany. Gamescom 2010 brought in 254,000 attendees, according to a press release issued by the organizers. If true that would make Gamescom by far the largest such event in the world.

505 exhibitors showed up for Gamescom this year which traveled from 33 different countries. 4,400 members of the media attended the event which was the home for a number of new PC exclusive game announcement. Gamescom 2011's dates have already been set for August 17-21.

Germany's Gamescom sets 2010 show dates


The debut of the new Gamescom gaming trade and consumer show in Cologne, Germany in August 2009 was a massive success by any definition. Over 245,000 people attended the show, making the first Gamescom the biggest such event in the world (E3 attendance last year was a mere 40,000, less than a sixth of Gamescom's)

Today the organizers of Gamescom announced that the event would be held once again in Cologne on August 18-22 in 2010. They already claim that a number of new exhibitors from Germany and abroad will be attending the event in addition to those that came this year. The first Gamescom had over 450 exhibitors from 31 countries show up . . . along with the customary Stormtroopers for its opening ceremony.
