Alien Fear revealed

We've been reporting that Poland-based City Interactive has at least three, possibly four, first person shooter projects in the works for the next couple of years. One of them is a WWII themed shooter and another is a sequel to its 2010 release Sniper: Ghost Warrior, both of which will use CryEngine 3 as its basis. Now a discovery that was actually first posted way back in August has revealed the title and genre for City Interactive's third upcoming shooter.

A news post on the official web site for developer The Farm 51 reveals they have signed with City Interactive to make a sci-fi themed shooter called Alien Fear for the PC and other platforms. This is most likely the game that City Interactive said will use Unreal Engine 3 as its basis back in December. The Farm 51 is best known for the two games in the Necrovision shooter series. The developer also helped out with the recent fantasy RPG Two Worlds II which will be released in the US for the PC on February 8.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior sequel confirmed

2010's first person shooter Sniper Ghost Warrior is getting a sequel. Eurogamer is reported that developer/publisher City Interactive has confirmed via a upcoming interview the title will be getting a second installment. The sequel will also be one of the two upcoming City Interactive games that will be based on CryEngine 3, the same engine that's being used for Crysis 2.

While it didn't get the best reviews, the original Sniper Ghost Warrior was a sales success for the publisher. It's got a number of first person shooter games in the works, including a WWII-themed game that will also use CryEngine 3. It's also got a Unreal Engine 3-based shooter in development for release sometime in 2011.

More info on City Interactive's CryEngine 3 WWII shooter revealed

A little while ago, City Interactive announced plans to release a new WWII-themed shooter that would be made by a newly formed UK development studio. Now GameSpot has posted up a new chat with the studio's head man Stuart Black who gives some more info on the still unnamed game.

Black, who previously worked on the upcoming console-only shooter Bodycount for Codemasters, confirmed that the new game will be one of the two City Interactive titles that will use Crytek's CryEngine 3 graphics engine. Black says that the game won't be a super-serious historical piece, saying that the inspirations for the title include movies like The Dirty Dozen and The Guns of Navarone. He states, "That's what we're after; more rock and roll, spray and pray, slo-mo death, and glory, wrapped in a progressive metagame that you don't usually see in a shooter." A specific release date for the game has yet to be revealed.

City Interactive gets new Unreal Engine 3 license for unannounced FPS

Poland-based City Interactive has been on an expansion tear lately, especially when it comes to first person shooter titles. Today the company announced that it has signed a licensing deal for a new unnamed first person shooter that will use Epic Games' Unreal Engine 3. Details of the game were not announced but it's due out in 2011.

City Interactive has already signed a deal with Crytek to use its CryEngine 3 technology that will form the basis for two more unnamed first person shooters that will be developed over the next couple of years. Most recently City Interactive announced it was opening up a studio in the UK to make a WWII themed shooter. It's currently unknown if this game will use CryEngine 3 or Unreal Engine 3.

City Interactive to open UK dev studio; to work on WWII-themed shooter

City Interactive has been making a lot of moves lately. The Poland-based developer and publisher, which had a sleeper sales hit earlier this year with Sniper: Ghost Warrior, has announced plans to open up a new development studio in London, England. The new UK-based studio will work on an unnamed WWII-themed shooter that City Interactive says "will emphasize high adventure in a genre that's become bogged down in reverence and historical accuracy."

The studio will have Stuart Black as its creative director. Black previously worked at Criterion Studios where he lead the development of its console-only shooter Black. His last gig was working on Codemasters on another console-only shooter, the upcoming Bodycount. City Interactive recently announced that it had licensed the use of Crytek's CryEngine 3 graphics engine for two upcoming games. It's currently unknown if the new London studio will be using CryEngine 3.

Code of Honor 3: Desperate Measures coming to US?

If you have always had visions of joining the French Foreign Legion, well things are a bit different now. They still accept people outside of France to join their troops but they don't wear funny hats. They now have real counter-terrorist gear and shoot up the bad guys.

City Interactive tells the story of the modern Legion (or at least its version of it) in the first person shooter Code of Honor 3: Desperate Measures (yeah, we have no idea about the first two Code of Honor games). While the game has been released in Europe, it may be headed to the US. The ESRB web site now has a new rating and listing for the game which is usually a clue that the game is US-bound. There's no word on when the game will be released.

City Interactive to license CryEngine 3 for two upcoming FPS games

Publisher City Interactive is apparently riding the sales success of its budget priced first person shooter Sniper: Ghost Warrior. Today the Germany-based developer announced that it will be licensing CryEngine 3, the graphics engine made by Crytek for its upcoming first person shooter Crysis 2.

The engine will be used to make two unnamed first person shooter titles over the next couple of years, according to City Interactive's press release. Crytek has been successful in signing a number of other developers to use CryEngine 3 over the past several months including deals with Illfonic, Ignition Entertainment and more.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior gets new DLC multiplayer maps

If you have a hankering to spend an extra 10 bucks to add new content to a game that only costs $30, then we have the DLC for you. City Interactive's recent budget priced first person shooter Sniper: Ghost Warrior now has some extra maps that can be purchased and downloaded via Steam.

There's five new maps included in the map pack with locations like some abandoned offshore oil rigs and a ruined stone temple location the middle of the jungle. The maps are all supposed to be bigger in order to give players a chance to shoot sniper targets from even longer distances. You can check check out a trailer for the DLC after the jump:

Wolfschanze II revealed by City Interactive

Publisher City Interactive seems to have a solid sales hit (if not a critical hit) for its recent budget first person shooter Sniper: Ghost Warrior. We've already reported on one of the company's upcoming first person shooters, Alcatraz. Now City Interactive has posted up a page for another budget shooter, Wolfschanze II.

The game with the name that most Americans (including us) can't pronounce is yet another in the seemingly endless WWII shooters. You play a Russian officer who has to enter a Nazi stronghold to steal a code machine. We suspect that hilarity breaks out later. The game's environments are based in part on a "real Nazi bunker complex in Eastern Prussia" according to the game page. There's no word on when this upcoming classic will be released.
