New Dawn of War 2 multiplayer units step on the enemy... literally

In preparation of the Chaos Rising expansion, current Dawn of War 2 players will be in for a bit of a treat. Each of the current factions will be receiving new units to bolster the multiplayer armies. Of the few units that are featured in this video, the WeirdBoy (we're guessing the Ork spelling) has got to be the most over the top, with abilities that include hurling allies at enemies and bringing down the Foot of Gork to stomp on enemies like an angry nuclear god. The new units will be added to the game in March before the Chaos Rising expansion releases on the 11th. Players will want to get used to them in order to properly utilize them against the forces of Chaos.

Dawn of War II: Chaos Rising gets March 11, 2010 release date

You can add one more game to the massive list of PC titles due out in the first quarter of 2010. This time it's for Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War II: Chaos Rising. Thanks to a post in the game's official Facebook site, we now know that the stand alone expansion pack to the sci-fi RTS game from developer Relic and publisher THQ is due for release on March 11 in the US. Europeans get the expansion pack one day later on March 12.

That means that sci-fi RTS fans have yet another major release coming this March with Supreme Commander 2 due out on March 2 and Command and Conquer 4 set to ship on March 16. Will one or more of these games blink and be delayed to move out of the way of the competition?

Developer diary lays out what to expect from Dawn of War 2: Chaos Rising

It doesn't seem right that the Chaos Space Marines, the corrupt demon-worshiping archenemies of the Space Marines, never made it into the original Dawn of War 2 campaign. However, the upcoming expansion, Chaos Rising, will fix that oversight. Picking up one year after the Dawn of War 2's conclusion, players are taken a whole new world, one that's completely frozen over, to battle against their old nemesis. Along the way, players will jump aboard a derelict space hulk to uncover its secrets. The expansion brings new characters and abilities and all-new corruption system that adds a different style of gameplay and multiple endings as players choose whether or not to become evil.

Dawn of War 2: Chaos Rising is expected to release in March, 2010.

Chaos reigns in Dawn of War II expansion trailer

This trailer gives an early peek at the upcoming expansion, Dawn of War II: Chaos Rising, which will add the Chaos Space Marines as one of the playable factions. The expansion is expected to release sometime in the spring of 2010.

"In Dawn of War II: Chaos Rising you will take command of the Blood Ravens and defend the sector against the Chaos Space Marines of the Black Legion. Purge the chaos filth and hold the chapter together as traitorous forces work from within to try bring down the Blood Ravens."

Dawn of War II Chaos Rising concept artwork is all sorts of bad a**

Normally we don't post much in the way of concept artwork but we just had to show you this bit of just freakin' awesome work from the upcoming and just announced Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War II Chaos Rising. Wow. You would think having high tech weapons would be cool enough but the Chaos Marines have devil dogs. Kind of an overkill but we love it.

Along with the above concept artwork, developer Relic and publisher THQ set over the first screenshots from the stand alone RTS expansion. They look pretty good too but we want to see devil dogs now. And massive axes too.

Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War II - Chaos Rising announced

As previously hinted, developer Relic and publisher THQ have just announced plans for Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War II - Chaos Rising. It's the first stand alone expansion to the sci-fi RTS game that was released last February. The new game is due out in spring 2010 and will introduce the Chaos Space Marines as the new playable side in the series.

Chaos Rising will continue the storyline in the original Dawn of War II and you can even use your squad's items, experience points and more to fight the Chaos Marines in the new single player campaign. The level cap has also been raised from 20 to 30 and there will be new multiplayer maps and new units for the three playable sides in the first Dawn of War II game.
