Activision grabed the
James Bond game license away from its long-running owner Electronic Arts a couple of years ago but this fall we will finally get the first 007 game from the new owner. IGN has the first hands-on preview of the title,
Quantum of Solace, and while it shares the same name as the forthcoming James Bond movie, it actually adapts the events is
Daniel Craig's first Bond flick,
Casino Royale, as well.
The game is being developed by
Treyarch and like their work on the forthcoming
Call of Duty: World at War, Quantum of Solace will use Infinity Ward's Call of Duty 4 game engine for the visuals. However, this won't be a complete first person shooter; some sequences apparently switch to a third person viewpoint such as climbing a ladder. The preview showed scenes adapted from
Casino Royale (obiviously to keep the secrets of the
Quantum of Solace movie intact) and Craig will lend his voice and likeness to the title. It should be interesting to see if this game will be a cut above the normal mediocre movie-to-game adaptation.
