Cannon Fodder revival coming to the PC ... but just in Russia

A classic PC game series is getting a revival but it looks like Western gamers will be out of luck in playing it, at least for now. It's the Cannon Fodder franchise which let players control lots of foot soldiers that basically are there just to die at your command.

The series, which launched at the now defunct Sensible Software, was later bought by Codemasters. Now that series is getting a third installment courtesy of Russian publisher GFI who licensed the rights from Codemasters. According to the official press release Cannon Fodder 3 your soldiers will be fighting in Asia, Africa and Europe. They will even take a trip to outer space.

However the game is currently set for release only in Russia and the CIS territories at this time, according to what VG247.com learned from Codemasters today. The publisher states, "In 2008 Codemasters licensed the Cannon Fodder IP to GFI (www.gfi.su) for a one-title project." Hopefully the game will find its way state-side at some point.

Three more games added to GoG.com this week

It's Tuesday and that means more classic PC games have now been added to the GoG.com web site. This week the site adds Warlords Battlecry 3, the 2004 released RTS game from developer Infinite Interactive (now better known for their Puzzle Quest series) and publisher Enlight. You can download the game now for $9.99.

Two other older games are now available for $5.99 each. One is Cannon Fodder, a 1994 tactical action game from developer Sensible Software and publisher Codemasters. The other game is Alien Nations (also known as Amazons and Aliens) a 1999 strategy-action game from developer Neo Software and publisher JoWood.
