Call of Juarez: The Cartel announced

The Call of Juarez first person shooter franchise is getting a third installment later this summer titled Call of Juarez: The Cartel, thanks to developer Techland and publisher Ubisoft. While the first two games in the series (Call of Juarez and Call of Juarez Bound in Blood) took place in the American Wild West timeframe, Techland has decided to make a "Modern Warfare" move and set Call of Juarez: The Cartel in the present day.

Details are scarce at this point but the official press release for the game states that it will have a "gritty plot" and "interesting characters". The game chronicles what we can only assume will be a violent road trip from Los Angeles to Juarez, Mexico. More info on the game will be revealed in the latest issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly's latest print magazine. By the way the game's press release specifically said the title would be coming to "Windows PC" despite the lack of a PC mention on the game's official web site.

Review: Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood

Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood tells a Wild West story about greed, lust, betrayal and redemption. It centers on the three McCall brothers, who lost everything including their family home during the American Civil War. Players choose between playing the older brothers, Ray and Thomas, who were Confederate soldiers that went AWOL to try to protect their family then turned into ruthless outlaws. The two are obsessed with the same woman and rumors of a cursed Aztec treasure that they hope will help them buy back the lives they lost in the war. The story is excellently told and is one of the best we've experienced in a long. However, a few annoying issues prevented us from fully enjoying the game.

Techland puts Warhound's future up in the air

Techland's recently released Western shooter Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood has gotten solid reviews so naturally people are wondering what's coming next from the Poland-based developer. We've already noted that their zombie shooter Dead Island is still in development but what about their previously revealed FPS Warhound?

First announced way back in 2006, this modern-day themed game putting players in the role of a merc has had many delays since then and now our sister site Joystiq has word from Techland's international brand manager Blazej Krakowiak that the game was pushed back in favor of working on Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood. So with that game now out in stores, what's the fate of Warhound? He states, "A release of an ambitious and well-received title is always a good moment to unwind a little bit and reevaluate all the options. It wouldn't be a good idea for us to discuss them right now." Hmmm..doesn't sound like we will be hearing from the game anytime soon.

Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood DLC coming to PC

How many times have we seen a multi-platform game get DLC for the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions but give nothing to the PC port? That hopefully won't be the case for the just released Western shooter Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood. The game from developer Techland and publisher Ubisoft will be getting some extra downloadable content.

According to a translation from a Polish web site, VG247.com reports that the extra content will consist of two multiplayer map packs as well as stuff for the single player mode. The article apparently confirms that this extra content will be coming to the PC as well as consoles. There's no word yet on a release date or a price point.
