It's not exactly a shock but the official Call of Duty: World at War message board have indeed confirmed that the third downloadable map pack for Treyarch's WWII shooter is coming to the PC (it was released for the console versions earlier this month). Third Call of Duty World at War map pack announced

Just a few days after the latest PC patch added the second map pack for Call of Duty World at War, Activision has gone ahead and announced that a third map pack for the WWII shooter is in the works and will be released for consoles in August. While there's no mention of a PC release for the map pack yet we suspect that it will also be released as part of a future patch several weeks after the console versions get a hold of it.

As with the previous two map packs, this third edition will add three more multiplayer maps to the game (Battery, Revolution and Breach) that were co-developed by Treyarch and Certain Affinity. And yes there will be yet another zombie based map added called "Der Riese" (Zombie Factory). In addition to a new weapon, the Pack-A-Punch Machine, the map apparently has teleporters "to escape in an instant and fight to the death" Sounds interesting.

COD: World at War Map Pack 2 trailer gets caught in a zombie swamp

This trailer gives players a first look at an area called "Shi No Numa" (Zombie Swamp), a Japanese territory found in Call of Duty: World at War's second map pack. Not only does it demonstrate how far reaching the zombie infestation is, but the bonus level features characters who would otherwise be enemies banding together for the sake of survival. Soldiers from the US, Russia, Japan and Germany must fend of zombies using whatever is at hand, which apparently includes a lightening gun. Map Pack 2 also includes thee other multiplayer maps and releases today for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. No official announcement has been made yet regarding a PC release.

"Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 2 continues to expand the addictive COD multiplayer experience with four new maps. Battle to control the river bridge in 'Banzai' a bright jungle map featuring a waterfall and hidden caves. In 'Corrosion' face down your enemy in a shattered train yard, and in 'Sub Pens' wipe the monsoon rain from your eyes as you struggle over a bombed-out submarine base. The Zombies return in 'Shi No Numa' (Zombie Swamp) featuring Perk machines, the deadly new Wunderwaffe DG-2, new Achievements/Trophies and flaming Hell Hounds."
