Super Meat Boy's Russia PC retail cover could be drawn by you (if you're Russian)

Developer Team Meat's terrific downloadable platform action game Super Meat Boy may be released as a retail game here in the US at some point. However the game is definitely getting a retail box version in Russia courtesy of Buka Entertainment. And if you are reading this news post from Russia and are a good artist have we got an opportunity for you.

Buka is looking for a Russia-based artist to create the artwork that will be used for the retail box copy version of Super Meat Boy and are asking for submissions for art that has a, well, Russian feel to it for the game's box. You can get more info at Buka's web site (it's in Russian, natch) but even if you don't live in the country you can still enjoy the video announcing the contest after the jump. It's fun.

More PC downloadable sales revealed this week

1C Company acquires Buka

Earlier this year we attended a press event for 1C Company, the largest Russian developer/publisher. Today 1C announced that their company would become even larger as they have acquired one of their rivals, Buka. Specifc financial terms were not disclosed but the press release states, " . . . .managers of both enterprises will try to make the best use of the synergy in their publishing, distribution and marketing activities."

Buka has published a number of Western games in Russia, including titles from Ubisoft, Codemasters, THQ, Valve and others. It also publishes and develops its own games such as the Hard Truck series of titles and the upcoming action-adventure game Collapse.
