Borderlands level cap update coming soon

Players of Borderlands who have been waiting for developer Gearbox Software to offer up the long promised level cap update to the first person shooter won't have to wait for much longer. In a message board post on the game's official forums it was announced that the level cap update should be released "within a couple of weeks, possibly sooner."

If you just own the original Borderlands game the update will raise your level cap to 58. if you have the DLC The Secret Armory of General Knoxx installed the level cap will go up even more to 69. Players who have completed the game already can play through Borderlands and find more challenging enemies and better loot the second time around.

Borderlands trailer gets ready for the GOTY edition

It's time for a new installment in the Claptrap web-series, and this time, it's to advertise the new Game Of The Year edition of Borderlands. As before, it's set in the world of Borderlands as seen through a filming crew, rather than as canon. Characters act out of... well, character, locations are just sets, and dialogue complains about the acting world. This particular episode starts off with the claptrap pretending to be destitute, but is quickly broken up by copious swearing and ridiculous antics. Naturally, there's a plug for the GOTY edition of Borderlands at the end. Our favorite part is, as always, Steve the bandit.

Duke Nukem Forever demo early access code available now for Borderlands owners

This week Borderlands Game Of The Year Edition shipped to stores and gamers will be able to get a code included in the retail package that will let them gain early access to, among other things, the upcoming demo for Duke Nukem Forever, As it turns out, you will also be able to get access to that demo if you already own Borderlands.

Big Download can confirm that purchasing Gearbox Software's FPS-RPG hybrid via Steam nets the user a code for the Duke Nukem Forever First Access Club web site. That code opens up the site which at the moment just has a couple of wallpaper images (you can see one of them above). However it will also give those players access to the demo for the long awaited shooter game. So it seems if you just purchase Borderlands via Steam for $19.99 you will get the same Duke Nukem Forever demo access code at the same time as those folks who purchase the Game of the Year edition.

Duke Nukem Forever demo coming for gamers outside of new Borderlands collection

This week Borderlands Game of the Year Edition ships to stores and as we reported last week people who buy this collection of Gearbox Software's first person shooter and all four DLC mini-expansions will also get first access to the long awaited free Duke Nukem Forever demo.

But if you want to play the demo but don't want to purchase the new Borderlands collection to get it (most likely because you already own the game and the four DLC packs), don't fret. According to what Gearbox's Steve Gibson told Digital Spy the Duke Nukem Forever demo "... is going to go out to everybody, yeah." He adds, "We want to - I don't want to spoil the surprise - but I think it's going to be fun and people are going to be surprised at what we put in there and what happens with it." The demo to the long, long, long awaited game should be released before the full game comes out sometime in 2011.

This Week In PC Games: October 11-17

In addition to the all new games and expansions coming out next week, PC gamers can pick up three new complilations of games with previously released material in stores next week: Dragon Age Origins: Ultimate Edition, Borderlands Game of the Year Edition and Painkiller Pandemonium.

Medal of Honor - Electronic Arts goes after the Call of Duty game audience with this new revamp of its military shooter series. The game, which takes place in a fictional version of the modern day Afghanistan conflict, features a single player campaign from EA developer Danger Close with the addition of multiplayer modes devised by the team at Digital Illusions.

Borderlands gets players ready for Duke Nukem Forever

Fans of off-the-wall shooters have a lot to get excited about thanks to a deal announced today by 2K Games. Gamers that purchase the Borderlands Game of the Year Edition for consoles or PC when it releases on October 12th will get free membership certificate for the Duke Nukem Forever First Access Club. Members will get exclusive early access to the Duke Nukem Forever demo, which will come out sometime before the full game releases. Unfortunately, it looks like players who bought Borderlands and its DLC expansions separately are ineligible for this offer.

The Borderlands Game of the Year Edition includes the core game and all of the DLC expansions: The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot, The Secret Armory of General Knoxx, and the newest expansion - Claptrap's New Robot Revolution. Duke Nukem Forever is expected to release in 2011.

Borderlands DLC trailer kicks off the robot revolution

The latest DLC expansion for Borderlands, Claptrap's Robot Revolution, released yesterday so vault hunters now have an all-new threat to overcome. In this expansion, players combat the once (sort of) friendly claptrap robots to come face-to-face with the Interplanetary Ninja Assassin Claptrap. There will be plenty of other threats along the way, like claptrap-ified creatures of Pandora and a new army of corporate soldiers ready to gun you down.

Big Download's News Bits & Bytes - September 28

Ah, Wing Commander. It's a real shame that EA doesn't seem interested at all in revisiting a truly great PC game franchise. Can you imagine what can be done with today's graphics?

Borderlands: Claptrap's New Robot Revolution DLC released

As promised a few weeks ago, developer Gearbox Software and publisher 2K Games has now released the fourth downloadable mini-expansion pack for its 2009 first person shooter-RPG hybrid game Borderlands. The DLC, Claptrap's New Robot Revolution, which features some wild and crazy robot-human action, is priced at $9.99.

At the moment the only place that the DLC is available is via Steam although it will certainly pop up via other download outlets later. In October look for the Borderlands Game of the Year Edition, with the original game and all four DLC mini-expansions, to ship to retail stores.
