Toy Fair 2011 shows off new Duke Nukem, BioShock and more game-themed action figures

The annual Toy Fair is happening right now in New York City and for the 2011 edition action figure companies are breaking out plans to release new figures based on current and upcoming games. NECA always has a ton of game-related action figures coming down the pike and Figures.com has a gallery full of what the company is showing off at Toy Fair this year.

As you can see one of the upcoming NECA figures is a highly detailed Duke Nukem that's slated for release in April just before Duke Nukem Forever comes out in May. It also showed off some upcoming figures from its BioShock line and announced that in 2012 it would be releasing figures based on the next game in the series BioShock Infinite.

Over at Kotaku they have posted up a video showing off some current and upcoming collectible statues from Gaming Heads, who have previously released statues based on Valve's games. Upcoming products in the video include a Smoker Infected from the Left 4 Dead series and a Portal 2 turret. Gaming Heads is also working on more Valve-based statues including a Gordon Freeman statue from Half-Life 2 that we suspect will sell out quickly.

Borderlands sits atop Steam top 10 best selling games list this week

Once again a big sale has caused a game to shoot up to the top of Steam's top 10 best selling games for the past week. This time Gearbox Software' shooter Borderlands, which had a 75 percent sale in the middle of last week, found itself at the number one spot (based on revenue). In fact two of the game's DLC mini-expansions, which were also on sale at 75 percent off this past week, made it on the top 10 list as well.

A two game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. bundle, boosted by a weekend sale, made it to the number two position on Steam's list this week. The full list is as follows:
1. Borderlands - Gearbox Software/2K Games
2. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Weekend Deal Bundle - GSC Game World
3. Mafia II: Digital Deluxe Edition - 2K Czeck/2K Games
4. Mafia II - 2K Czeck/2K Games
5. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 - Digital Illusions/EA
6. Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days - Io Interactive/Square Enix
7. Borderlands: The Secret Armory of General Knoxx - Gearbox Software/2K Games
8. Worms Reloaded - Team17
9. Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition - Bethesda Softworks
10. Borderlands: The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned - Gearbox Software/2K Games

Borderlands and its DLC expansions get 66 percent sale on Steam

Steam's big mid-week sale is a particularly nice one. From now until Thursday Steam users can purchase and download Gearbox Software's 2009 first person shooter-RPG hybrid game Borderlands for just $10.19, a 66 percent savings from the game's normal price.

That price cut extends to Borderlands' four-pack bundle (one for you and three for your friends) which is now just $30.58 for the next two days. Finally all three previously released DLC mini-expansions for the game are available for just $3.39 each. Gearbox recently added Steam achievements to Borderlands and also announced a fourth DLC mini-expansion that is scheduled for release sometime in September.

Fourth Borderlands DLC expansion officially announced

As promised a little while ago by Gearbox Software's head man Randy Pitchford, today comes the official announcement for the fourth DLC mini-expansion for the developer's first person shooter-RPG hybrid game Borderlands. The DLC is titled Claptrap's New Robot Revolution and as you can guess from its title centers around one of the original game's most loved characters, the one-wheeled robot Claptrap.

In fact players can expect to see a lot of the robot in the DLC as the player characters are recruited to stop hundreds of Claptrap-type robots as they seek to overthrow the Hyperion Corporation. The DLC will support both single and co-op gameplay with over 20 missions that include dealing with lots of Claptraps, including their leader the Ninja Assassin (yes, Ninja Assassin ... stop laughing). The DLC will be released sometime in September for $9.99.

More DLC for Borderlands still coming

Fans of developer Gearbox Software's hit first person shooter-RPG hybrid game Borderlands have something to look forward to. While the game has had its fair share of downloadable content it looks like some more is coming up in the pipeline.

According to a recent post on the Twitter page of Gearbox's head man Randy Pitchford he states, "I get a LOT of questions about more DLC for Borderlands. Yes, more is coming! T2 already said so! Let's talk soon :)". As we said, Borderlands has had three $9.99 mini-expansions released for download (The Zombie Island of Dr Ned, Mad Moxxi's Underdown Riot and The Secret Armory of General Knoxx). Last March, publisher Take Two Interactive's CEO Ben Feder stated, "We will continue to support the title with more add-on content." There's been no word since then on what that might be or when it will be released.

Borderlands to get Claptrap toy in October

More and more games have some action figure licensed tie-ins but to be quite honest most of them are just, well, "Eh?". However we leave some room to be surprised from time to time and at the San Diego Comic-Con allowed us to be surprised with word that Borderlands' wise cracking robot Claptrap will be getting the toy treatment.

Kotaku reports that the toy, which looks like it came out of the cel-shaded universe of Gearbox Software's 2009 first person shooter. will be released sometime in October from NECA Toys. According to their story the Claptrap toy will be able to say a few of his lines from the game. We want one for Christmas. Heck, we want one now.
