Steam continues on its Treasure Hunt with more promos and sales

The Treasure Hunt continues on the Steam web site as the promotion-sales-contest on the PC gaming web site enters its next-to-last two day period. Here are the four new objectives that Steam users have to accomplish to qualify to win some free games:

Post a comment on a friend's Steam Community profile page
Build a Wonder in Civilization V
Set a leaderboard score of at least 10,515 for 'Slaughter, City Center' in Zombie Driver
Build Me Up Buttercup in Bob came in Pieces

In addition both Zombie Driver and Bob came in Pieces are on sale for the next two days for $2.50 each. Civilization V is also on sale for two days for $37.49. By the way the new civs and scenario for the game are now live on Steam's site for $7.49

Latest "pay what you want" indie game bundle hits a snag

Wolfire's recent organization of the Humble Indie Bundle was a success by every measure with over $1 million in revenue generated for six indie games and two charities via a "pay what you want" business model. This week another similar PC indie games bundle launched but this time it looks it has not gone very smoothly.

The web site is call GiveWhatYouWhat.com and it already seems annoying thanks to an intro voice over that you can't turn off. It has the same kind of business model as the Humble Indie Bundle. However complaints have hit the internet about the site with some concerned that the person in charge is attempting some sort of scam.

As a result developers for two of the games included in the bundle (Bob Came in Pieces and Graviton 2) have now pulled out of supporting this venture. The PC Gamer blog site has chats with the developers behind the two games as well as the German-based organizer of this bundle who attempts to defend himself (it doesn't help that his broken English response is incomprehensible at times). Our verdict after reading all of this, well, stuff? Just wait for the next bundle deal.

Steam offers mid-week indie games sale

Direct2Drive already has a nice indie games sales bundle in place, but now Steam wants in on that indie games sales action. From now until Thursday, Steam is offering seven indie PC game titles for just $2 each. The games are Gridrunner, Space Giraffe, Bullet Candy, Bob Came in Pieces, Altitude, Super Laser Racer, and Galcon Fusion.

But that's not the nice deal. That comes when you buy all seven games in a bundle on Steam. Then the price for the bundle comes to $9.99. That's far cheaper than the nearly $59 you would have to pay for each game separately at their normal Steam prices.
