Reported Diablo III screenshots from 2005 pop up
Diablo III was officially annouced by Blizzard way back in June 2008. However, even before that date there were rumors (never confirmed by the developer) that a third game in the company's action-RPG series was under development at its Blizzard North offices who were in charge of the first two games in the series. However Blizzard decided to shut down Blizzard North's San Fransisco Bay offices in 2005.
Now Kotaku has posted up some screenshots that it claims comes from a build of that earlier version of Diablo III. Unfortunately the site has not offered up any info on where these shots came from so we will have to take the site at its word. If these are indeed real shots from that earlier version of the game it shows an art style that is more in line with the first two games in the series rather than the more colorful version that Blizzard eventually announced three years later.
