BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger for PC now available via Games For Windows Live

We have been waiting for this news for months and today Microsoft announced that the PC port of the 2D fighting game BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger is finally available for US PC gamers. The game is available exclusively as a downloadable game via the Games For Windows Live client and is priced at $34.99

Developed by Japan-based Arc System Works, the creators of the cult hit Guilty Gear fighting game franchise, this particular game is not only one of the few fighting games available for PC owners, it's also one of the few PC titles that supports cross-platform multiplayer play with its Xbox 360 counterpart.

Is BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger for the PC finally coming to the US?

We've been reporting for some time that a PC port of the console fighting game BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger will be released in t the UK and in parts of Europe in June but there's been no word on if that version is coming to the US. Now it looks like the PC version might actually be heading stateside.

The ESRB web site has just updated with a listing for the Windows PC version of the game. Normally if the ESRB has a listing it means that it's been submitted to the US-based game ratings board for a likely US release. The listing shows Arc System Works, the Japanese developer of the game, as the publisher. It's possible that the developer has decided to publish the PC port themselves here in the US, rather than work with a publisher.

BlazBlue confirmed for the PC for March release...in France

One of the coolest fighting games, at least in terms of art design, released in 2009 was BlazBlue. The 2D game from Arc System Works (the developers behind the Guilty Gear series), was released in the US for the Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles last year. A few months ago rumors hit that a PC version was in the works and today the French-based publisher Tradewest announced they would release a PC port of BlazBlue in France alongside the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions on March 19.

In fact Tradewest has confirmed that the PC port of BlazBlue will be a Games For Windows Live title which means thinks like achievements and more will be part of the port. So far there's no word on when or even if the port will be released in the US.
