GameStop to open at midnight on Black Friday in over 800 locations

Remember when going to Black Friday sales meant getting up really early and standing in light in the dead of night waiting for the store to open? That's so 2008. Now all the hip (or desperate) stores open on midnight or even late on Thanksgiving Day to begin its Black Friday sales.

You can add GameStop to that list as the game-related retailer announced that over 800 of its US stores will be open at 12:01 am on Black Friday (all the others will open at 5 a.m. on that date). You can check to see which nearby GameStop location will be open at that day and time on the retailer's web site.

GameStop reveals Black Friday PC game deals

Not too many brick-and-mortar retailers have Black Friday sales for PC games but one of them happens to be GameStop. The ad for the retailer's Black Friday 2010 sales event has leaked ahead of November 26's big sales day. On that very you can buy World of Warcraft for just $4.99 and get a $5 gift card. Excluding taxed that means GameStop pays you one cent back when you get the game from them.

Other special sales deals include Lego Universe for $19.99, Supreme Commander 2 for $9.99. World of Warcraft Battlechest for $9.99 and Fallout New Vegas for $29.99.

Best Buy to have $4.99 PC games for Black Friday sale

Not too many retail stores have PC games on sale during Black Friday but an exception is Best Buy. Their full Black Friday 2010 newspaper ad for the biggest shopping day of the year (that's November 27 in case you didn't know) has been posted on the bfads.net web site and it shows quite a number of PC game titles on sale for just $4.99 each.

Most of these games are older of course and many of you reading this might already own some of them but for $4.99 they do make great holiday gifts for you non-PC gaming friends. Here's the full list:

World of Warcraft
Far Cry 2
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl
Assassin's Creed
Civilization IV
Bioshock
Hoyle Slots
(yeah, that one threw us too).
