Bioshock 2 PC color blindness issues; still no gamepad support

It's been a while since we have heard so many complaints about a major PC game release. The PC port of BioShock 2 has generated its share of message board threads with people not happy about the first person shooter's lack of gamepad support and its non-widescreen display issues. Now the title's hacking mini-game is drawning fire from people who are color blind.

As pointed out by Negative Gamer, the hacking uses color bars as its basis and for people with various types of color blindness the system just would not work. A post by 2K Games' community manager states, "I talked to the team about this issue this morning and I'll let you know what I hear back!."

Meanwhile the lack of gamepad support isn't going to be put in, even with the scores of complaints on message boards about the issue. Another message board post from 2K Games' community manager states, " . . to add it now would take a complete re-envisioning of the UI that the team worked so hard to create."

BioShock 2 Uber Edition announced and canceled

So you think you are all fancy by pre-ordering the BioShock 2 Special Edition, do you? Well in fact the collector's edition of 2K Games' upcoming first person shooter is pretty slick stuff and a new YouTube video shows 2K Games' community manager Elizabeth Tobey opening up the Games For Windows version of the edition to show off all the extras in the big box.

But that's nothing compared to what's shown later in the video, the Uber Edition of the game that costs $14.999 and comes with a fully workable Big Daddy. Unfortunately the Uber Edition is now canceled for reasons that . . .well, you just need to see the video to find out for yourself. In the meantime you can still order the special edition of the game before it ships next week.

BioShock 2 Special Edition announced

After being left out of a lot of the "special" packages for games, PC gamers get a pretty nice one with the announcement today of the BioShock 2 Special Edition. As revealed today on the Cult of Rapture community site, the collector's edition of the upcoming 2K Marin-Digital Extremes-2K Games first person shooter will be released for the PC for $89.99 alongside the regular edition on February 9. There will just be one production run on this puppy so quantities will be limited.

In addition to the game of course, the Special Edition comes with a 164 page hardcover art book with developer commentary, a CD with the BioShock 2 soundtrack, a vinyl LP with songs from the first BioShock game, and three posters with Rapture city ads. All of the contents will be put into a special 13x13 inch package. It's actually looking like it will be worth the $30 bucks.
