This Week In PC Games: July 27-August 2

The final week of the month brings a classic game franchise to the PC along with a historical strategy game and a downloadable movie-based brawler:

Bionic Commando: Capcom brings this third person action game to the PC (it was released to consoles last May) with developer GRIN re-imagining the classic 2D sci-fi side scroller as a more serious title. Swing across both blasted out cityscapes and more natural settings with your bionic arm which doubles as a powerful weapon against enemies.

Capcom confirms Bionic Commando PC release dates

Capcom released their long awaited Bionic Commando re-imagining for consoles last May. However the game received average reviews and reportedly slow sales. So the excitement for the upcoming PC version has slowed somewhat. If you are still interested in checking out the PC port for the game we have some final release dates for you.

The Capcom Unity Twitter site has revealed that the game (developed by GRIN) will actually ship to stores on July 17 in Europe (that's a week from this Friday). However we here in the US will have to wait a bit longer; the game ships to stores here on July 28. You can check out the game's system requirements after the jump:

Rumor: Mass layoffs at GRIN?

They seemed to be one of the most successful independent game developers around. Now rumors have hit the Interwebs that European based developer GRIN has been hit with mass layoffs, which might include the shut down of two of its development teams.

Kotaku is reporting through unnamed but "multiple sources" that between 100 and 160 GRIN team members are affected by the layoffs. In addition two of the company's development teams (one in Barcelona, Spain and the other in Gothenburg, Sweden) will be shut down, according to the report. In addition the company's headquarters in Stockholm, Sweden have alledgedly let go of 30 team members.

GRIN has released three games inside of three months; the movie based Wanted: Weapons of Fate (released in late March) and two games this month; Terminator Salvation and the console versions of Bionic Commando (the PC version is scheduled for July).
