BigCast 013 -- The Great Debate

This week the BigCast starts off strong but laments on one subject - Casual Gaming. As Kyle discusses his recent feature on the inclusion of casual mechanics in "hardcore" games a great debate (and we use that term loosely) is kick started that covers everything from Spore to Space Siege. As the discussion grew longer and longer Xav and Kyle decided to end the show on the discussion rather than squeeze in a round-table already prepped for the show. Don't worry, we're saving that great round-table (which was sent in via listener mail which you should also try sometime!) for next week. Listen as Xav and Kyle argue about casual gaming and its place in the industry. This is gonna get heated on the BigCast!

Warhammer Online: New content "almost certainly" coming in pairs

In an interview with Big Download, Warhammer Online Associate Producer Josh Drescher said the developer is, "relatively confident ... adding things like careers back in can be done in a way that's not disruptive." Warhammer Online developer Mythic Entertainment announced the loss of multiple careers within the game this summer.

While Drescher wouldn't confirm new careers would be made available in a future update to the recently released MMO he did say the development team is aware of balance issues caused by adding new content. "If we add a career back in we will obviously not do it in a way that is unbalanced," Drescher said in an interview that is available in this week's episode of the BigCast -- the Big Download podcast. "We won't add a tank to one side and not to the other. So you will almost certainly see those things coming in pairs."

BigCast 010 -- Wrap It Up!

BigCast 008 -- Eternally Childish

After a few tech hiccups, some of which are still obvious in the show, we finally got down to recording an epic and emotional edition of The BigCast. From our thoughts on the logistics of a Star Trek MMO to the quick exit of an Indie developer the crew throws it all on the table. This week Xav is joined by Akela and James (Kyle's connection kept dropping the call -- check out the outtakes for more!) and a special new segment we've teased in the past. Our resident Hardware Guru, Rafe Brox, jumps in with his own quick segment touching on AMD's 790GX chipset. We're changing the format around just to keep you on your toes -- like a Gnome at a urinal.
