Batman Arkham Asylum gets big Steam sale this weekend

While we wait for more info and screenshots to be released for Batman: Arkham City. the first Batman game from developer Rocksteady is ready for yet another sale. Yep, the Game of the Year edition of Batman: Arkham Asylum has a big price cut at the Steam PC game download service.

Normally priced at $39.99, the Game of the Year edition is now on sale via Steam for just $13.60, a 66 percent discount. The game is almost a steal at that price and if you have not yet played it you need to do so before Batman: Arkham City comes out.

Batman: Arkham City pushes out new and impressive screenshots

It's rare that we post a news story that is mostly about some new screenshots of an upcoming game but we make do make exceptions. We are making one now for the first "official" internet screenshots for Batman: Arkham City. You may remember some other screenshots that were released earlier this year but those were leaked and didn't come directly from publisher Warner Bros. Interactive.

These new screenshots from developer Rocksteady are no less impressive looking, however. The Dark Knight looks like he's about ready to do some big damage to Gotham's wild and crazy criminal element. The new screenshots come as the official web site of Game Informer magazine has finally reprinted its preview of Batman: Arkham City which remains the only really detailed look at the game due out in late 2011.

(Alleged) first Batman Arkham City screenshots leaked

An alleged internet leak over at the NeoGAF forum has apparently yielded the first real screenshots from Batman: Arkham City, the upcoming sequel to developer Rocksteady's 2009 super hero action game Batman Arkham Asylum. While we have yet to get confirmation from publisher Warner Bros. Interactive that these are the real deal, we feel confident enough that these are legit to go ahead and post them.

Besides the visuals here are just simply too cool looking not to post about. Batman looks cool as always but take a look at Two-Face. That has to be the best representation of Harvey Dent we have ever seen, and yes we include The Dark Knight movie in that comparison. It's going to be a long wait until Batman Arkham City's fall 2011 release.

GamersGate launches second week of big summer PC game sales

We still have a few more weeks of summer left and the GamersGate PC game download site is still in the middle of its month long summer sales event. For its second week the site has cut prices of a number of action games down to the bone from 50 to 75 percent off

Among the many games on sale from now until Monday, August 16 are Borderlands for just $10.18, Batman Arkham Asylum Game of the Year Edition for just $15.98, and Saints Row 2 for a mere $7.48. Other games are even cheaper like Red Faction Guerrilla for $4.96, Painkiller for $3.47, and Frontlines: Fuel of War for a tiny $2.48.

Batman Arkham City announced for fall 2011 release

The previously revealed sequel to Batman Arkham Asylum finally has a real name and a release date. Warner Bros Interactive officially announced today that the sequel to 2009's hit super hero game will be called Batman Arkham City. The game is still a long ways off as the publisher also announced a fall 2011 release date for the game.

Developed once again by UK-based Rocksteady, the sequel will take place in Arkham City, the new location for all of Batman's crazy villains. Unlike the asylum, which was a confined space well outside of Gotham City, Arkham City is a much larger location that's inside a district of Gotham City itself. Game Informer's print magazine this month features Batman Arkham City and it looks like Catwoman is going to be one of the new characters in the game if two of the cover designs are to be believed.

E3 2010: The PC Games That Went Missing

The 2010 edition of E3 has been over for a week now but we are still recovering from checking out all of the titles that we saw at the Los Angeles Convention Center. There were also lots of games that were there we didn't get to see unfortunately. But most importantly of all were the games we know are being made but still didn't make it to the show.

E3 is unquestionably the single biggest event in the game industry but for a variety of reasons some highly anticipated PC titles were not even shown in trailer form at the event. So which games went missing? We just happened to have created a handy list of titles that we think could have made an appearance of some type at the show.

Second set of Batman: Arkham Asylum action figures announced

A few months ago DC Direct announced plans to release a series of action figures based on Batman: Arkham Asylum, the hit super hero action game from developer Rocksteady and publisher Eidos. The first set of four action figures have already been announced and are due out in January 2011 but DC Direct has already revealed plans for a second set of figures from the game.

This second quartet of figures will include a new version of Batman himself (in an "Armored" version of his suit) along with three new Bat-villains: The plant-based seductress Poison Ivy, the oddly named Zsasz and the man who would like to break Batman's back Bane. The second set will be released in February 2011.
