This week in PC Games: June 28-July 4

The last week of June sees quite a few PC games heading to store shelves this week including a game that was first announced way back in 2005. After this week is over there's a pretty major dry spell in terms of major new PC game releases until mid August with the big exception of StarCraft II which is due on July 27.

All Points Bulletin (APB): First announced five years ago, developer Realtime Worlds finally ships this first person shooter MMO this week, combing a persistant urban action game with lots of customization options for your character, car and even music.

ArmA 2: Operation Arrowhead goes gold

Fans of the original ArmA II, released one year ago, can now rest a little easier. Developer Bohemia Interactive has announced that the game's expansion pack, ArmA 2: Operation Arrowhead, has "gone gold" meaning the game is completed and is being replicated onto disks. The game is still slated for release on June 29 with Meridian4 taking on the game's publishing duties here in the US.

While the game is a stand alone expansion pack and doesn't require the original ArmA 2 to play, folks who still have the original game installed will update it with a number of improvements and additions. Bohemia Interactive states, "Despite being labeled as a standalone expansion pack, the amount of content we have produced for Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead constitutes a full game by any reasonable measurement."

Meridian4 to publish ArmA II expansion and new collection

Last week we reported that ArmA II Operation Arrowhead, the upcoming expansion pack to Bohemia Interactive's 2009 military shooter, would be released worldwide on June 29. Today Meridian4 announced they would be the North American publisher for both the expansion as well as a new ArmA II collection.

Meridian4 will not only released the stand alone expansion to retail stores on June 29 but will also ship ArmA II Combined Operations, which contains both the original game and the Operation Arrowhead expansion, on the same date. This is the third US publisher for the ArmA series. Atari released the first ArmA game and Got Game Interactive shipped the first retail version of ArmA II to the US last year.
