Fallout: New Vegas PC gets special download pre-orders offers

While folks can purchase Fallout: New Vegas as a boxed retail version, the PC port of the upcoming post-apocalypse RPG will also be available via download. If you swing that way publisher Bethesda Softworks has teamed up with several retailers to offer special pre-order offers if you buy the game via download.

GameStop, Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart will all have their own unique pre-orders specials for the PC download version (Steam's pre-order offer will be the same as Walmart). Each consist of exclusive in-game items (armor, weapons, etc) that will become available when the game is released this fall. Check out the specifics of each pre-order offer after the jump:

Mafia II gets Collector's Edition and pre-order bonuses

As we approach the release of Mafia 2 in late August the folks at 2K Games have decided to give folks a chance to pick up a Collector's Edition of the long awaited open world crime action game. The PC version of the collector's edition is priced at $69.99 and will contain the game (of course) inside a steel case.

You will also get a map of the game's fictional city Empire Bay, a game soundtrack CD and a hardcover art book. It will also contain a special code to download some exclusive in-game items like two vehicles cars and two new suits for your characters. In addition several retailers (GameStop, BestBuy, Amazon.com and Walmart.com) will have their own pre-order bonuses for Mafia 2. You can check out all of them after the jump.

StarCraft II Collector's Edition getting harder to pre-order

We knew that the pre-orders for StarCraft II would likely be huge but it looking like the retail Collector's Edition of the upcoming Blizzard sci-fi RTS sequel is getting harder to find. IncGames is reporting that a number of major retailers, including GameStop and Amazon.com in the US, are no longer taking orders for the $100 collector's edition which has a ton of extras besides the game itself. Indeed the Collector's Edition is no longer showing up on GameStop's web site and Amazon.com's listing for the edition only shows a third party selling the game for a whopping $499.

However, all is not lost. Best Buy's web site is still taking pre-orders for the collector's edition as is WalMart's web site, NewEgg.com and even Toysrus.com. However it's very likely that this version will have all of its copies claimed by pre-orders before StarCraft II ships to stores on July 27.

More pre-order specials announced for Star Trek Online

PC Modern Warfare 2 sells less than a tenth of total on Amazon.com

People have wondered how much of a audience the PC version of Modern Warfare 2 will have compared to the console versions. Now Amazon.com gives us a bit of a clue with their percentages of the all-time sales of the Standard Edition of Infinity Ward's upcoming first person shooter.

As you can see the PC version is currently selling only 8 percent of the Standard Edition's total sales. The Xbox 360 version is by far the most popular port with 61 percent followed by the PS3 version with a mere 31 percent (the results don't take into account sales of the Hardened Edition and Prestige Edition of the game which is not available for PC owners).

Even though the percentage is low for the PC version, Modern Warfare 2 is still expected to sell millions of copies among all three versions. That means the PC port could sell hundreds of thousands of copies which is very high for any game, PC or not.

Other retailers get their own Dragon Age: Origins pre-order specials

Earlier this week we reported that both Direct2Drive and Steam would have their own unique in-game items for people who pre-order the BioWare fantasy RPG Dragon Age: Origins. As it turns out, yet another download site is getting the same treatment.

Stardock's Impulse PC game download service offers the Formari Memory Band which adds 1 percent experience points to your game's character along with one extra skill point. Meanwhile ordering the game from Amazon.com adds the Lion's Caw Boots item which adds to armor, dodge, and evading missiles. It also has a $10 video game credit for future Amazon purchases. Finally, GameStop is offering its customers a Feral Wolf Charm which "adds to your armor and increases your health regeneration." Confused yet? Yep, so are we.
