Alien Breed 3 Descent revealed; due next week on PC?

After a slow start it looks like developer Team17 is cranking out the next installments in its revival of the Alien Breed top-down shooter pretty quickly. Over at the Xbox 360 blog MajorNelson.com Alien Breed 3 Descent was officially revealed and is due for a downloadable release on that console on November 17.

The revival started in 2009 with the Xbox 360 release of Alien Breed Evolution but in June 2010 Team17 re-released the game for the PC in a revamped form as Alien Breed Impact. In September Alien Breed 2 Assault got a simultaneous release for the Xbox 360 and PC. So far there's no word yet if Alien Breed 3 Descent will get a similar treatment for PC owners.

Alien Breed: Impact gets 50 percent sale on Steam

That other sci-fi top down shooter on Steam that's not Alien Swarm is Alien Breed: Impact. The game, which debuted on the Xbox 360 first as Alien Breed Evolution, was finally released last June for the PC via Steam. Now you can purchase and download the game for 50 percent off for a limited time.

That means you can get developer Team17's latest title for just $7.49 from now until Thursday on Steam. You can also get a two pack bundle (one for you and one to give to a friend) for just $11.24. Team17's next gave via Steam will be Worms Reloaded which will be released on August 26.

Alien Breed Impact now offers two-pack deal on Steam

The recent release by developer Team17 of their top down sci-fi shooter Alien Breed Impact has apparently been a solid sales success for the team. Now folks who want to give a friend a copy of the game can do so via the Alien Breed Impact two pack deal on Steam.

Normally the two pack deal would cost $29.99, allowing you to give a Steam code to a buddy. However it looks like the two pack deal also has a sale going on that cuts the price by 25 percent, letting you get the two pack for just $22.48. Basically you are getting one game and the second has its price cut by half.

E3 2010 Interview: We chat with Team17's studio head about Alien Breed: Impact

While UK-based Team17 has worked on a number of retail games for the PC and other platforms for various publishers, the development team has now decided to go on its own by developing downloadable titles and self-publishing them for various platforms. Recently the team released Alien Breed: Impact on Steam. The top-down sci-fi shooter is both a revival of the developer's Alien Breed games of the 1990s as well as a revamped version of their 2009 Xbox Live Arcade game Alien Breed Evolution.

Big Download got a chance to get some questions about the game and other topics answer by Team17's long time studio head Martyn Brown.

Second Alien Breed downloadable game gets title

Even as Team17 prepares to release the PC version of Alien Breed Evolution (known now as Alien Breed Impact) it looks like the UK developer is already prepping for the next game in the series. The ESRB web site has been updated with the listing for Alien Breed 2: Assault.

There's not much info on the storyline for the next game in the top down sci-fi shooter series but we assume it will continue from the end of Alien Breed Evolution/Impact. Alien Breed 2 Assault is currently listed only as an Xbox 360 game but its likely Team17 will port it to the PC at some point. In the meantime Alien Breed Impact for the PC is set for a Steam release on June 3.

Alien Breed Impact demo released via Steam; game release on June 3

Team17 Software is prepping up for the release of Alien Breed Impact a bit sooner than first expected. The top down sci-fi shoooter that's also a revamped version of last year's Xbox Live Arcade game Alien Breed Evolution is now set for a June 3 release via Steam. If you pre-order the $14.99 title before its release you get 10 percent off its price. You also get a digital comic book that tells some of the back story of the game's main hero Conrad

Oh, wait. Did we mention the demo? No? Well, there is one and you can download it now via Steam as well. It's a special prologue to the main game and can be played in both single player and co-op.

Alien Breed Evolution PC coming this summer; renamed Alien Breed Impact

It's taken a little while longer than first planned but today it looks like the release of the PC version of the top down sci-fi shooter Alien Breed Evolution is getting close. The game's developer Team17 has announced the PC port of the game, which was originally released last fall via Xbox Live Arcade, will be released via Steam sometime this summer

However the game is actually getting a name change for its PC version. Instead of Alien Breed Evolution the PC game will be renamed as Alien Breed Impact (the promised PS3 version will also be named Alien Breed Impact, by the way). Why the change? According to the press release the game will get a number of enhancements compared to its previous Xbox Live Arcade release, including expanded customisability (upgrading weapons via in-game cash), improvements to the co-op modes and an improved and expanded Prologue campaign.

Team 17 reveals concept artwork for "Project X3"

The folks at UK-based Team 17 have been quite busy of late. They have two upcoming game projects for the PC; a new Worms game, Worms Reloaded, and their PC port of their top down shooter Alien Breed Evolution. However the team has some projects that, for one reason or another, haven't been made

The company's Facebook page reveals one such game title, code named "Project X3". It's a sci-fi side scroller/shooter game that's a revamp of a 1992 Amiga game Project X. There's concept artwork available for the new game but the Facebook site states, "We have no current plans to do the game, but you never know."

Worms Reloaded announced; coming to Steam

Team 17's recent move to begin self publishing games will soon be kicking into high gear soon on the PC. The UK developer has already announced that their top down sci-fi shooter Alien Breed Evolution will be released on Steam sometime this quarter. They have also announced (via their Facebook page) that a PC port of their Xbox Live Arcade game Worms 2 Armageddon is also coming to Steam.

Now the developer's Twitter page has posted word of their third PC game coming via Steam. Team 17's founder Martyn Brown posted up word that "...a new edition of 2D Worms for PC! "Worms Reloaded" is coming soon via Steam. Details & features to follow..." This sounds like it may be a remake of an earlier Worms game. We hope to learn more in the near future.

Worms 2: Armageddon coming to PC via Steam

Team 17's Worms series of turn based strategy games have always been popular and in 2009 the developer released Worms 2: Armageddon for the Xbox 360's Xbox Live Arcade download service. Now comes word from Team 17's Facebook page that a PC version is in the works via the Steam download service. The message states, "W2A on Steam is moving ahead, there will be a Beta test, so stay tuned for more info in the next few weeks."

The Xbox 360 version of the game contained 35 single player missions along with six multiplayer modes. The game cost the equivalent of $10 to download from Xbox Live Arcade so we expect a similar price for the PC version.
