PC gamers still awaiting Age of Booty

PC gamers are still wondering where their booty will be available...their Age of Booty that is. While the downloadable pirate strategy game from developer Certain Affinity has been officially released for the Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles, publisher Capcom has yet to release the promised PC version of the title.

Ironically, PC owners got to play a free open beta of Age of Booty weeks before the console release. However there's still no word on when the PC version will finally be made available. Big Download has tried to contact Capcom's PR folks to get more information but so far they have not responded to our inquires.

Age of Booty docking soon on a PC near you

Heed that Pirate call land lovers! Capcom announced today that its upcoming downloadable title, Age of Booty, will land on the Xbox 360 Arcade on October 15 and the PlayStation Store on October 16 with a PC release shortly afterward.

Capcom also confirmed they wouldn't, once again, be pillaging the wallets of PC gamers by releasing Age of Booty for $10 across all platforms and in all regions. Capcom's pricing choice should be a popular one with fans after the publisher landed in hot sea-water for releasing the PC version of Bionic Commando Rearmed for $5 more than its console counterparts.

Age of Booty will be made available on PC via a number of downloadable services, including: Direct2Drive, Digital River, Metaboli, Impulse, and Steam. A PC demo is planned for the day of release for all those interested in the sea-fairing real-time strategy adventure.

Ed. Note: We apologize for all the terrible Pirate related puns included in this story.

Age of Booty PC beta launched

It's a game that we have said before has one of our favorite titles of 2008: Age of Booty. Can you believe this game was previously known as Plunder? The pirate themed downloadable strategy game from developer Certain Affinity and publisher Capcom has been on our radar for some time and now Fileplanet is offering an open beta of the game for anyone with a FilePlanet account.

The Capcom blog site has a little more info on the multiplayer beta including word that soon the game's map editor will be unlocked in the beta test. Not only that, but people who make good maps during the beta test will have their maps included as free downloadable content after the game is released. There's no word yet on when the final game will be made available for download.

More on Capcom's stance on PC gaming

A few days ago we reported that a Capcom US rep was disappointed in the sales of the PC version of their third person action game Devil May Cry 4, saying that the game was being heavily pirated on the Internet. IGN got a chance to chat briefly with that Capcom representative, corporate officer Christian Svensson, to get more info on their stance for PC gaming.

IGN questioned Svensson on the sales of the PC port of Devil May Cry 4, bringing up the fact that previous PC ports of Capcom games have not turned out well and that the Devil May Cry 4 PC port was released several months after the console versions shipped. They also questions why the game, along with Lost Planet Colonies, were not made available for digital distribution, which Svensson admitted, " I'm not completely clear on the reasons to this day." He did say upcoming Capcom games like Dark Void, Bionic Commando, and our favorite game title of 2008 Age of Booty, will be made available via digital download when they are released.

Age of Booty trailers show an age of booty

Developer Certain Affinity has a certain affinity for pirates. Publisher Capcom seems to share their love of swashbuckling and has teamed with them to produce Age of Booty, a pirate-themed strategy title that sends players on a journey across land and sea.

In case you missed them in last week's E3 hullabaloo, Certain Affinity has released a few gameplay trailers that offer an idea of how Booty's gameplay will work, featuring different strategy elements, vessels, and of course, booty. Each high definition trailer is available from Big Download for your viewing pleasure.

Age of Booty will be released for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC during the third quarter of 2008.

Are you in the mood to plunder some booty? Not the modern meaning of "booty," you pervert - pirate booty. You know, treasure: gold coins, scepters, crowns, that sort of thing. For those looking to scour the open seas for treasure, developer Certain Affinity and publisher Capcom's Age of Booty should fit your bill, swabbie.

Plunder changed to Age of Booty

It's always fun when a game changes its previously announced title mid-way through its development. You have to go back and re-label screenshots to reflect the new title and every story you write about the game has to mention the previous title's name change so that your readers don't get confused.

Capcom has done exactly that with the game now previously known as Plunder, the pirate themed downloadable strategy game from developer Certain Affinity. The game is now known as Age of Booty which will certainly get a grin every time someone says the new name. No reason for the name change was revealed.
