Capcom released a playable demo for Age of Booty, "a casual, real-time pirate-themed multiplayer strategy game that puts you at the helm of your own pirate ship with the goal of sending your enemies to the briny deep, and looting/capturing towns for your pirate faction." The full game can be purchased for $10.

Capcom VP talks more about their PC game business

Capcom has been making waves about their commitment to PC gaming, including a recent announcement that they would be joining the PC Gaming Alliance as a full member. However, their record to date on supporting PC titles is spotty at best. Games like Resident Evil 4, Devil May Cry 4 and most recently the downloadable title Age of Booty have been released for the PC months after their console counterparts.

VideoGamer.com has a new chat with Capcom VP Christian Svensson on why exactly this happens. Svensson basically says that it takes more time to develop a PC port of a game, particularly when it has content that is not in the console version. Testing of PC games also takes a lot of time, according to Svensson. He admits that on the subject of the timing of their PC game releases compared to console ports, "The sad news is we're not going to be consistent about it for a while. So while it's a message I'd love to get across we're not quite walking the walk yet." He also goes into some detail on their views of PC piracy, why they don't work with Valve's Steam service more and other subjects.

It's true: Age of Booty for the PC finally released

We've been waiting a long time for this moment but it has now finally arrived: Capcom has just released the PC downloadable strategy game with our personal favorite title: Age of Booty. Yes, now you can purchase and download the Certain Affinity-developed title for $10 at Capcom's online store.

The pirate themed Age of Booty was first released as a PC beta back in October but the full and final version of the game was released for the Xbox 360 in October and for the PS3 in November. There is no word as to why the full PC version took so long to be completed but it's ready now. In its official blog, Capcom says the game will appear on other download outlets like Steam and Direct2Drive soon. in addition we can also expect a PC demo of Age of Booty to be released with Capcom it will "likely arrive next week."

Our lives are now complete...wait, oh darn..we still have to wait for Stalin Vs Martians to be released before that happens. Our bad.

Flock now due for release in April; PC gamers still waiting for Age of Booty

Capcom's downloadable game program hit a delay with their next release Flock. Originally scheduled for release in January, the title is now set for release for the PC on April 7 with console releases later that week, according to a new article on IGN. Developed by Proper Games, this Lemmings-style action-puzzle title will have players herding animals over to a waiting UFO.

Meanwhile PC gamers are still waiting for Capcom to give them their booty; that is, their copy of Age of Booty, the pirate themed strategy game from developer Certain Affinity. Both the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game have been out for those platforms for several months now but PC owners, who got to play a beta version last fall, have been left in the lurch. The last word is that the PC version would be out by the end of this month but it now looks unlikely like that will happen.

Yet another delay for PC Age of Booty?

Last time we checked in with Capcom on the long delayed PC release of Age of Booty their spokesperson said they were targeting a release sometime this month. Well the downloadable pirate themed strategy game from developer Certain Affinity seems to have run into yet another delay.

According to a new IGN article, Capcom now appears to be targeting a late February release for the PC version. The release would be timed with updates to the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions which were made available last fall. There's still no word as to why the PC version of Age of Booty has been pushed back yet again.

Capcom eyes January release of Age of Booty PC

As you know we have been waiting for some time for the PC release of Age of Booty, the downloadable pirate themed strategy game from developer Certain Affinity and publisher Capcom. The game was released via download for the Xbox 360 in October and for the PS3 in November but PC gamers are still awaiting their shot at booty.

And now it appears they will have to wait a bit longer. Big Download finally got a hold of Capcom's PR rep for the game who told us that while they still don't have a specific release date, it does look like the PC version will be released via download sometime in January. There is no word as to the reasons for the delay but we will keep you up to date when we get more info on a specific release date.

PC gamers still awaiting Age of Booty

PC gamers are still wondering where their booty will be available...their Age of Booty that is. While the downloadable pirate strategy game from developer Certain Affinity has been officially released for the Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles, publisher Capcom has yet to release the promised PC version of the title.

Ironically, PC owners got to play a free open beta of Age of Booty weeks before the console release. However there's still no word on when the PC version will finally be made available. Big Download has tried to contact Capcom's PR folks to get more information but so far they have not responded to our inquires.

Age of Booty docking soon on a PC near you

Heed that Pirate call land lovers! Capcom announced today that its upcoming downloadable title, Age of Booty, will land on the Xbox 360 Arcade on October 15 and the PlayStation Store on October 16 with a PC release shortly afterward.

Capcom also confirmed they wouldn't, once again, be pillaging the wallets of PC gamers by releasing Age of Booty for $10 across all platforms and in all regions. Capcom's pricing choice should be a popular one with fans after the publisher landed in hot sea-water for releasing the PC version of Bionic Commando Rearmed for $5 more than its console counterparts.

Age of Booty will be made available on PC via a number of downloadable services, including: Direct2Drive, Digital River, Metaboli, Impulse, and Steam. A PC demo is planned for the day of release for all those interested in the sea-fairing real-time strategy adventure.

Ed. Note: We apologize for all the terrible Pirate related puns included in this story.

Age of Booty PC beta launched

It's a game that we have said before has one of our favorite titles of 2008: Age of Booty. Can you believe this game was previously known as Plunder? The pirate themed downloadable strategy game from developer Certain Affinity and publisher Capcom has been on our radar for some time and now Fileplanet is offering an open beta of the game for anyone with a FilePlanet account.

The Capcom blog site has a little more info on the multiplayer beta including word that soon the game's map editor will be unlocked in the beta test. Not only that, but people who make good maps during the beta test will have their maps included as free downloadable content after the game is released. There's no word yet on when the final game will be made available for download.
